No one mentioned her follow-up to "Mad Love."

"Get Closer" had some New Wave elements. I particularly remember the song "Tell Him," which was jumpy and retro.

I remember Get Closer! There was an awesome song on it called The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. I used to work overnights at a country station *shudder* and would try to play some Linda every couple of hours, just to get away from the twangin'. Of course they never let us play anything from Mad Love...bastards.

I had heard that Elvis Costello disliked Linda Ronstadt's covers of his songs from the "Mad Love" album, and gave his royalties from this project to charity as a result.
I will admit though, "How Do I Make You" has been a favorite Linda Ronstadt song of mine; up there with her version of "Living in the U.S.A." by Chuck Berry.

Hey now that I've finally given it a listen (gawd it's been awhile)
'How Do I Make You is a GREAT early 80's rockin tune much in the same way Greg Kihns 'The Breakup Song' was, um.. still is.[8D]

I also had Mad Love on 8-track way when. Man... that seems like eons ago. I had almost forgotten about that album. I can remember all the local rock stations billing it as her "New Wave" lp. It's kind of weird since she went from doing all those countryfied remakes of rock and roll songs just a few years before this Lp. She really was a looker back then though !
