Worst 80's Song Ever!!

New Wave/Punk music, culture, genres, memories. '80s revivalism and other relevant topics.

I had to put Don Johnson. Regardless of how awful that list is...at least the other songs were done by musicians rather than a wanna-be singer-actor. It was kind of like Eddie Murphy's thing. yuck.

You left off some important awful songs: '99 Red Balloons' by Nena, 'Be Good Johnny' by Men at Work and 'What Can You Get A Wookie For Christmas (When He Already Owns A Comb)' by the Star Wars Intergalactic Droid Choir and Chorale

Alot of the songs in the poll, I quite enjoy, but I don't really like 'Two of Hearts' by Stacey Q. Hearing it once a year is enough for me [;)]

Don't Worry Be Happy is the stupidest song since We Are The World was released. WATW is the most boring, tuneless, smarmy piece of shit I could ever imagine anyone mustering to write. And they coaxed a buncha people to perform it! They must have all been smoking the same crack.

I really like Taco.

I liked these songs...I loved we built this city.

Escape Club - Wild Wild West
Starship - We Built This City

For me, these are somewhere between good and horrible...
More towards horrible..

Will To Power - Baby I Love Your Way/Freebird Medley
Stacey Q - Two of Hearts
USA for Africa - We Are the World
Bobby McFerrin - Don''''t Worry Be Happy
Kenny Loggins - Footloose
Was (Not Was) - Walk the Dinosaur

These are all pretty dang horrible...

Lionel Richie-Dancing on the Ceiling
Wham - Wake Me Up (Before you go go)

This is the worst...

Katrina & the Waves - Walking on Sunshine

And Mickey by Toni Basil...wasnt a song... It was simply scientific proof that you can successfully seemingly fling crap at your face from speakers.

<br>Yet another 'Worst 80's Song' list that leaves off my most Odious personal choice "Puttin On The Ritz" by Taco
followed VERY closely by Bonnie Tyler's 'Total Eclipse of The Heart'
[:(!]Arghhhh..What's Wrong With You People?![:(!]

Total Eclipse actually rules all when done by Hurra Torpedo. If you haven't seen this yet (it was posted by Waukena a while back) check it out!

We are the World wins it for me just for the sheer number of times I heard it on the radio.
Elvira by the Oak Ridge Boys is truly HORRID! Surprised it didn't make the list.

I had to go with "Don't Worry, be Happy". That song just gives me chills. A few of my other personal pet peeves: "Two Princes" by the Spin Doctors, "Semi Charmed Life" by Third Eye Blind, "Fly" by Sugar Ray, and "You Can Call Me Al" by Paul Simon. Gotta agree with everything on the list though, I had forgotten how bad that Will To Power song was.

I nominate "Head To Toe" by Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam. I was dating a girl who LOVED that song, and I wanted to scream every time she played it (which was all the time). I was so disgusted by her love of that song, that it was partially responsible for our breakup. She would do this sickening dance and sing along really loud, and it made me want to puke.

Boy did I hate that song.[:(!]

Was (Not Was) - Walk the Dinosaur

Sorry, I like this tune. [:0]

When I read the title of the topic the first song to go through my mind was Toto's "Rosanna," immediately followed by "Maniac" from the movie "Flashdance."
