Simon F

Keyboardist Simon F was a member of the British new wave group Intaferon in the early 80's. In America, he became a one hit wonder as a solo artist with the 1987 minor hit 'American Dream' which was taken from his second solo album 'Never Never Land'

From his 1985 debut album 'Gun' he had a song called 'I Want You Back' which was produced and featured a guitar performance by Steve Stevens (Billy Idol's guitarist)

I don't know where else this song was a hit, but here in Canada, it became quite a popular favourite and remains one of my all-time fave new waves from the 80's

It was a hit in Australia, since it was originally done by the Hoodoo Gurus. Also got some exposure on US MTV (Hoodoo Gurus that is).

A couple of more Simon F tidbits:

This was one of those instances where the U.S. vinyl version had different songs than its UK counterpart. On the U.S. version of "Gun", the songs in question were "I Want You Back" and "Baby Pain". On the UK version, called "Gun Control", they were replaced with "Breathless" and "Hold the Bunker". I believe the U.S. version was different in hopes of achieving some hits in the U.S. market.

Simon F also went on to form a band called F Machine. They released a CD in 1989 called "Here Comes the 21st Century". Other than that, I don't know what Mr. F has been up to.
