Jethro Tull's "Under Wraps" album (save for lone saving grace, "European Legacy"). Even the single, "Lap of Luxury," was sorry. Come to think of it, Jethro Tull's entire '80s output was embarrassing.
The Alan Parsons Project had a dud in '87 called "Standing on Higher Ground" that hammered the nails into their coffin.
Dan Seals - "Bop." "I want to bop with you, baby, all night long. I want to be bop you, baby, to the break of dawn." Yeah, I think it says it all.
A great band from Memphis, The Breaks, who had a great single, "She Wants You," morphed into a bad band, Drama, who had a bad single, "Paralyze," that probably got about 2 spins on radio.
The Animals - "The Night." A real... burdon to have to listen to. Get it? Burdon?
And who could forget The Honeys' "Running Away from Love?" Everyone who's lucky, that's who.

Blondie covered Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire for the Roadie Soundtrack around 80-81.
I think Deb had a countryish song or two on her solo cd Debravation. I don't really remember though. I'm a big Debbie Harry fan, but that album was painful.

Trans by Neil Young. The music was OK, but it had Neil Young's voice all over it. Yuck!
Flush The Fashion by Alice Cooper. Aside from the track Clones (We're All) it's a horrible LP.

IMO It seems that the tune couldn't find a proper broadcast outlet in the NY or stateside radio market due in part to APP's 70's 'rock' & early 80's top 40 notoriety.
This track was totally out of genre with their other material (except for perhaps, 'Games People Play') It was a quintessential mid 80's synth & guitar driven track packing as much angst and energy as any Spoons or KTP track.
Despite the unmistakable presence of Vitamin Z's Geoff Barradale's vocals on this great tune, it never got any airplay (even on WLIR).
I only got wind of it by catching a one time airing of the music video on MTV which got me out to the local Record World for the '45 single (Still Have It).
I never did hear any other tracks from the 'Gaudi' album.
'Standing On Higher Ground' is truly a lost 80's track worthy of another listen.
