I'll second _Manhunter_; even the instrumental tracks are exemplary new wavy mood pieces. ("In-a-Gadda-da-Vida" could have been dropped from the album, however.) While on the topic: What became of The Prime Movers, who contributed the remarkably brilliant "Stong As I Am" to the film? Were they just an ad-hoc studio group created to work on the soundtrack (like, for instance, Fire Inc. on the _Streets of Fire_ sndk)?

I'd also suggest _Modern Girls_-- it includes one of Depeche Mode's best songs ("But Not Tonight"), and, overall, a good cross section of mid-80s new wave/college rock (DM, Jesus and Mary Chain, Icehouse) and pop (TKA,Floy Joy).

Also--_Midnight Express_; Giorgio Moroder's innovative synth/sequencer stylings are used to great effect. "The Chase" is a great workout tune.

My alltime fave, however, is _Until the End of the World_. A lot of 80s/new wave stalwarts--DM, REM, U2, Elvis Costello, Patti Smith, Nick Cave--did A+ work on this soundtrack. A wonderful movie as well, if you can stand the 4-hour running time.

The Cat People soundtrack is also a nice listen. Giorgio Moroder does most of the tracks, and David Bowie does the theme song.

The greatest soundtrack of all time is "Voyage of the Rock Aliens".
If I were you, I would open your show with "Nature of the Beast" by Michael Bradley... Twice.

All kidding aside, I do enjoy "Combine Man" & "21st Century" by Rhema...and the Jermaine and Pia classic.

Ben,
I have the "Up The Academy" soundtrack LP, but it only has about half of the songs you mentioned. No Iggy, Kinks, Boomtown Rats, etc... The Lp is still pretty cool, but was there an expanded version out on CD or something?

I hate it when they dont put all the songs from the movie on the soundtrack. I've been looking for the CD. I need to get on the Hub [V] [:D]

Of course, I realize that it is only for refined tastes and not general consumption. [8D]

How about "The Lost Boys?" Had a good song or two by Tim Capello and Sisters of Mercy.

The Bachelor Party soundtrack was pretty good. It featured REM, Oingo Boingo, The Fleshtones and the great Adrian Zmed. [:D]
