Bands that released less than an album's worth?

I have at least three singles in my library from bands who released nothing else...


The Assembly - "Never Never"

Consenting Adults - "The Only One Who Knows"

Amoretto - "Clave Rocks"


Consenting Adults were on Dreamland Records, and were no doubt screwed by the label going under in '81. The Assembly never got their act together enough to do anything else under that moniker. Amoretto reportedly fell victim to infighting and a greedy producer who took the singers' money.

I didn't know the LP received a CD release, though as you confirmed anything by them goes for eye-goggling prices.

Not sure if the CD ever saw the light of day. Adrian was going to let me know when it was available, but I haven't received any further word on it. I'm assuming it died on the vine.

If you can bear with me, I'll rip the lp for you, but it may take me a while.


While we're listing groups with small outputs, I'll add Boys From The East.

They released 2 7" records: Eastern Eyes in '84 and Brilliant in '87. Both records have excellent A and B sides.

Sadly, one of the many who fell through the cracks in the 80's.

I'll throw a few more out:

The French. Although they released 2 singles, the totally forgetable "The River Flows East" and a self titled ep with their version of Kraftwerk's "The Model" it's the B side of that 7" which is fantastic; a song titled "Set me on Fire. One of the more unique 80's songs I've heard.

Another group is "Boys in Darkness" which released 2 12" records titled "Back to France" and "Heart of Darkness". Both are excellent esp. "Back to France".

I'll stick one more in; "3D". Not the U.S. based group, the U.K. outfit. A couple of 7"ers and 1 12" release, and not a bad song in the bunch. Great stuff with good lyrics to boot.

What about the Nerves? I think they only put out an EP, right? Of course, their break up gave us the Beat & the Plimsouls, so it's not a total loss by any means.
The Screamers however are a different story....

Close, but Felony has a post-Fanatic EP called Vengeance. It is another hard-find and got very little notice outside KROQ.

Another one-EP band perhaps? Crown Of Thorns (the 1983 new wave band, not the mosh-post-grunge act)?
