Question Regarding the Live Aid DVD

Is this worth getting? I saw the listing of the bands in the back and it look interesting enough. Ultravox, Duran Duran, etc. Are the concerts good?

For the history of it, the price, and the cause, it is certainly worth having. Granted, the performances shown are not the performances in their entirety (most bands did four songs, while the DVD usually shows only 2 of the 4 songs performed, and in Adam Ant's case, only one song). But on the bright side, there are no MTV VJ nuisances breaking up the performances. Since not all the performances were on the DVD set, one can only hope that another one is in the making for the rest of the stuff. You also get to see some behind the scenes stuff (Phil Collins crossing the Atlantic to perform in Philadelphia), and the whole background of Live Aid, and the video for the Band Aid song as well. I couldn't wait to pick it up!

Skinnytie, which of the Band Aid video was on there, the actual video or the one that's the making where you see everyone show up.

Also, how many songs did they include from Ultravox?

I have no short term memory for this stuff, so without putting the discs in, there are two songs by Ultravox on the set: "Dancing with Tears in My Eyes" and "Vienna". I remember after watching Live Aid in 1985 that Ultravox was my favorite performer(s) that day.
The Live Aid DVD does include the video of "Don't They Know It's Christmas" and there are snippets here and there of the bands showing up to perform, part of that video, I believe. I remember at the time that the song first came out, there was a 20 minute "Making Of" video available, but it hasn't been included as a bonus here.

The DVD is well worth the money. My favorite part of Duran Duran's performance is missing (for obvious reasons): Simon's voice cracking on "A View To A Kill" and his 2-foot loogie between his mouth and his mic when he was introducing a song. Luckily, I still have those on tape from the day in '85 itself.

I think this set was worth the money. Disc one is the best in my opinion. Alison Moyet sings a song with Paul Young, and I loved Nik Kershaw's "Wouldn't it be Good". Even if you only got the one disc, it would still be worth the $19.99. I had some friends over to watch the concert and they bought the set after seeing it.
