just wondering what were the group mr. mister classed as back in the 80s?

I would have to say pop...definitely not new wave. I really like their first album though. The song Black/White kicks ass![8D]

Actually their first LP was I Wear the Face, which was before Welcome to the Real World. The first LP is more jazzy and although Richard Page's lyrics are often inane, Steve George's keys often make up for them.
I agree with you though, Black/White and the title track of Welcome to the Real World are quite good
