Motors 1.How sweet it is.

A few weeks ago someone posted how they thought The Clashes Sandinista was great and wanted our opinion on it.I was always a rock fan first and by the time the mid to late 70,s landed rock was pretty stale or overblown.When the Motors 1 came out in 1977 it was a blast of pure rock and roll.Dancing the night away and Bring in the morning light were some of the best songs of the 70,s not many people heard.In 1982 my wife and I danced to Today from the Motors approved lp as our wedding song.I still love this lp today and find it holds up well in todays musical jungle.I would recommend all three of their lp,s to those of you not familiar with them.Tell me what you folks think of The Motors.

I thought their first and second albums were good, first one especially had a great sound...but after Bram Tchaikovsky headed out of town I thought they went lame and the rest of the stuff was nowhere near as good. I can remember going out and buying 'Tenement Steps' new, listening to it a couple of times and giving it away...I also thought Nick Garvey became waaaay too full of himself...

Speaking of these guys, I'd love to lay my hands on the one Ducks Deluxe recording that I know got released, just to hear if it was as much fun as I thought back then...but I've never seen anyplace and haven't heard it for 25 years...I think Dave Edmunds produced it...

I'll have to look but I think I *MAY* have a Ducks Deluxe 7".

I agree with the Motors first LP, great rock/powerpop from the late 70's.

Waukena, the CD release of "Taxi to the Terminal Zone" has been available for years now and can be purchased at Netsounds and Gemm. "All Too Much" was released on CD last year. I would get them myself but I have the vinyl.

In any case, the pub rock supergroup The Rumour were better. [;)]

Great band the Motors,still don't understand why they had to play, with stadium heavy-rock bands, like Rush,Blue Oyster Cult and ACDC among others.Also i love Ducks Deluxe first album and Rumour,but you also check out Brinsley Scwartz,the first band of Nick Lowe.Their album ''Silver Pistol'',isa small golden secret of legendary pub rock years.I think its a vast passsage,everything has to do with this very important ''movement''.
