I'm not sure if this question has been asked already and for some reason I think it has but which popular New Wave artists have you met? If you have pictures, I'd love to see them.

Claude S., Dania Morales & Paul Rjinders of Anything Box
Rob Rowe and the other members of Cause & Effect
Kurt V. of Information Society
Robert Enforcen of Elegant Machinery
Marian Gold of Alphaville

I met Joan Jett backstage once. I was shocked because she was extremely shy and stood against a wall looking at the floor. It was like pulling teeth to get her to say anything, or even look at you. But, even through that I could tell she was a genuinely nice, warm person.

I waited on Robin Lane once when I worked in Boston. She was nice, a little embarrassed that I recognized her. We talked for a little bit. We compared coats as we both had the same one.

The ONLY musician I've ever met is Lemmy from Motorhead (backstage at the Lost Horizon, wolverine). True to form, he was drinking JD straight from the bottle.

Gee, I always thought that even the Lost Horizon was a little classy for Motorhead!

Lemmy always struck me as probably a funny, good guy.

The only group/artist(s) I've met and greeted were 2 members of 'When In Rome' (Clive Farrington, Michael Floreale, Andrew Mann- Don't remember which 2) They did a gig at Camouflage back in '87 and were signing copies of their hit single 'The Promise'.
Really nice, gracious gents they were. (Still have that signed record)

BTW: My wife got to meet Joan Jett while working as a personal trainer in Long Beach NY.
Like Wolverine said, she's quite shy and low key when not in her stage persona. My wife also said Joanie was very polite and unpretentious.

I went on one date (if you call it that) with Stacey Q and I got stoned with the drummer for Berlin in the audience during the opening act which was Generation X. Not New wave but i had about a 5 minute conversation with the Late John Candy at Louisville airport. It was just me and John. He had just finished filming Stripes there and I was stationed there going home on leave. I told him how much I loved him on SCTV and he said it was one of the best times in his life. I miss him [:(]

I met Rick Nielsen from Cheap Trick after a show - I made a 16x20 b/w print that I shot at a previous concert and had him autograph it for me.

Also met Ann & Nancy Wilson from Heart. Mike Score from A Flock of Seagulls when they were in Cleveland in 1989 -- I photographed him for a magazine.

Also Ranking Roger from English Beat -- photographed him for a magazine. Run DMC also shot back stage for a show in Cleveland. Information Society, The Jazz Butcher, All seemed really nice -- photographed them also for a magazine.

I met Bono and Adam Clayton after a U2 show in 1984 at Cleveland Music Hall -- told Bono I loved the song Red Light -- he said theres a lot hidden in that song that people don't realize.

Also met all 4 members of REM -- I shot a concert and took a 16x20 print to a show in Pittsburgh and they all sighned it -- Bill Berry was like "I'm not signing that, I'm not even in the picture" I begged and he signed. I have that print framed and hanging in my office to this day. Just beautiful!

I met Duke Erickson and Butch Vig from Garbage, back in 1985 in Madison, Wisconsin. This was obviously before Garbage, when Duke (who then went by his real name, Doug) was in a new wave band, Spooner. Butch was producing local bands (he later went on to produce Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins, among others). I met them both at a party and chatted for a while. Nice guys.

My old manager from work lived in Wisconsin, and was a self-admitted "groupie" of Spooner, back in the days.

But wow, going out on a "date"(hoever one defines the term) with Stacey Q wins the thread, pillow screaming or not.

I saw Spooner at least a dozen times, so I probably could have been called a groupie if I had slept with one of them, LOL. Wow, I'm amazed someone else has heard of Spooner!

Holy cow! Hello, fellow cheesehead! I don't know if Spooner the band had any connection with Spooner the town, though. Who knows, maybe somebody from the band was from Spooner?

Anyhoo, I joined this board to see if I could find any information about some bands.

I've met dozens of these clowns since the late 70s, I could drop names for hours. I've got stories.

I'll probably read more before I post stuff, as to follow proper protocols.
