Work Songs

Postby skinnytie » Sat Sep 03, 2005 12:08 pm

In honor of Labor Day, how many New Wave songs can you think of with the word "work" in their titles, or a form of the word? Here are mine:

"Women Around the World at Work" - Martha & the Muffins
"Working in a Coal Mine" - Devo
"Work Shy" - The Fabulous Poodles
"American Workers" - The Bus Boys
"Working for the Yankee Dollar" - The Skids
"Housework" - The B-52's
"Work Hard" - Depeche Mode
"Work for Love" - Ministry
"Working with Fire & Steel" - China Crisis

Not-so-New Wave:
"Let's Work" - Mick Jagger
"Let's Work" - Prince
"Working for a Living" - Huey Lewis & the News
"Working for the Weekend" - Loverboy

There HAS to be others!

Nice tie-in Skinnytie! Here's some more. Not just something with work in the title but hopefully somewhat related to work of some kind...

Take Stuff from Work - King Missile
Working Overtime - New Order
Volker-Work That Dream - November Group
Wild Sex (In the Working Class) - Oingo Boingo
Finest Worksong - R.E.M.
Working on the Ground - Shriekback
At Home, At Work, At Play - Sparks

Devolution Workin' Man Blues - The Alarm
Julie's been working for the drug squad - The Clash
Working Girl - The Members
Working Too Hard - The Nerves
Work Is A Four-Letter Word - The Smiths
Senses Working Overtime - XTC

I think your China Crisis, Bus Boys plus the Bow Wow Wow and Smiths are my favorite titles.

Oh man, such a good call! Then of course Human League's "The Dignity of Labour" pts 1 - 4. No lyrics at all so I can't even guess at it's inference.
