STIFF STUFF!

Postby ezweiseg » Mon Sep 05, 2005 7:56 am

Does anyone remember the hairspray called Stiff Stuff? I use to go through cans of it a week in the eighties. My friends still tease me about it.It was so sticky that if you ran your hands through your hair before it dried they would get stuck! It smelt like crazy glue!!

Stiff Stuff was the ONLY thing that kept my hair spiked back in the day. Like liquid plastic, really. I thought I was the only guy who used it.

Stiff Stuff went the way of the skinny tie, probably at about the same time. Maybe it'll make a comeback, too.

I was big on Dep hair gel. It was "the thing" to use, lol! Especially for those sweeping Nick Kamen / Rick Astley "wet look" dos. Surprised they're still around:

I thought so too bpdp3!
But hey - I had forgotton all about Stiff Stuff. I roommate of mine used to wear it to get that giant, high 80's hair. She had me try it once and it just made me feel like I had one of those plastic devo wigs on.

Great album. Dave Edmunds, Elvis Costello, Ian Drury, etc... or did you want to talk about hair-spray some more?

I thought it was gonna be another thread about women in their late 30's - early 40's hitting their sexual peak... <img src="http://www.cooganphoto.com/invboard/html/emoticons/shifty.gif">

I was hoping it would be about Stiff Records merchandise! I am desperate for one of those two-tone "F$%k Art, Let's Dance!" T-Shirts. I check e-bay every so often.

There was a band called The Adults, back in Kent, Ohio -- they use to play a song called "F$%k Art, Let's Dance!" -- it was pretty fun.

Aqua Net Extra Super Hold in the pink and white can. I went thru that stuff about 2 cans a month. My hair (when I had some!) would feel like plastic by the time it was spiked up, and I would have to rinse it out before I went to bed or it would hurt like a mofo!

That's awesome Ollie!

I thought "Fuck Art, Let's Dance" was from the Two-Tone Label or the English Beat? I have a button that says that with The Beat's dancing girl logo on it.
