I was trying to think of his name & for the life of me couldn't remember it. My friend Eileen had the serious hots for him but would never talk to him in a million years.

The Ramones gig was crazy. I felt sorry for the opening band. I think their name was ISM. They sucked & they got booed off the stage.

Dead Milkmen is still my fave heartbeat memory though.

Funny Story,

Rudeboy was the best man at my first wedding. However, at Heartbeat I met a young lady who was a fan. Years later, she's now my wife and we have two beautiful daughters.

Speaking of Paris NY & Heartbeat(I hear a....), I remember going into the Paris with my underage girlfriend and her even more underage sister in the summer of '83( Bird, your door guys were sooo lax, ahem cool, about that) what a blast we had in that dual level joint. I remember looking up from the floor at the gawkers above and down from above at all the Frankenstonians trying to do their best Bono/ goth dance moves. I remember those goth girls (in comfortable shoes..) dancing cheek to cheek to the Norml's "Warm Leatherette".......wahm.. leatherette.
I remember that souvenir mylar crescent moon posted somewhere over the DJ booth (Remember the Bowie "Serious Moonlight" tour?)
As for Rumrunners/Heartbeat, I did my 18th B-day there in Dec of 80, don't remember much of that night. I do remember seeing APB there and Propaganda as well.
Those were the times to be clubbing boy...........

Was Heartbeat named after the Psych Fur's song? (I always wondered if it was) Paris NY had an outdoor deck too, didn't it?

And how come nobody is talking about one of my favorites, Spize in Farmingdale!! I remember seeing Shreikback there.

Heartbeat was named after the song,if you remember the comercials.

And Spize, the "Elvis of Dance Clubs" was close to Paris and it also rocked.

BTW, I just got in touch with Maxx of LIR. I'll send him here. That guy knew everything about this music.

Spize... great memories there too. I saw the Ocean BLue there, the Aquanettas (crap girl band)opened for them. I've forgotten who else played that night. Matt Cord hosted the show. That whole week...I forgot what it was called (Sometime in Oct 91) was a weeks worth of shows all over the island that ended @ the Palladium that Saturday where Mick Jones From BAD did an acoustic set. He was supposed to be this surprise guest but we all had it figured out. The set I remember best happened @ Mulchay's (HATED that place.) Someone called Richard X. Heyman, The Judybats, ALison Moyet & The Innocence Mission.

Whoops going off topic... Spize... I remember they even had a TV commercial years ago. And a tee shirt.

While us Long Islanders are taking a walk down memory lane (sorry, this must be very boring for the rest of you), but does anyone remember the cover band Vixen? They introduced me to a lot of new wave songs/bands before WLIR converted their format to new wave in '82.

They introduced me to U2 (they covered I Will Follow), Ultravox (Vienna), and many others. The played at the Mad Hatter and all the local bars (damn, what was that bar on Deer Park Ave).

First off to Monimania ~ Those are great Island Ears from the early 80's with the Legz ads inside and with the full page ad for Spit on the back cover.<br>
Next to Hockybird who I just figured out must be dj Bird who I first saw dj at a place called Monkeys. And then at Spit. Anyways on Tuesdays we used to go to either Paris NY to see the Bondage Babies or go to that other short lived but great club Blitz. I saw the Revillos and Our Daughters Wedding at Blitz. And in one my early 80's Island Ears there is an ad to see Bauhaus at Blitz.
Next to BHois ~ I was only at Rum Runners once and that was to see The RAMONES ~ A Great show as always!

BHois ~ Can't belive you just mentioned Ocean Blue! I just got home from dj-ing tonight and I had a request for Ocean Blue! I have a video by them but I didn't have it with me tonight. I will be bringing out with me again.<br>
As for Spize ~ I hung out there since in opened in the early 80's. At about the same time Network had opened. Another great Long Island Club.

Speaking of the Ocean BLue, did you get a copy of their last CD? It was called "Davy Jones Locker." It was right up there with their first CD & "Beneath The Rhythm & Sound." I wasn't all that crazy about the second one (Don't know how to spell it's title off hand) or the 4th.

Barry Ravioli... there's a name I'd not thought of since... oh... 1986, 87?

I once stood on a line in Record World in Roosevelt Field to meet Barry & Larry the Duck w/a couple of friends of mine. I think that was my junior year in HS.

Paris NY in 1984... I was 14 so I never made it then! I don't think my parents would have gone for driving me from Valley Stream to a nightclub in Huntington.
