Has anyone found any music by "The Plastics" - Welcome Back 1981, from Japan. They performed with the B-52s in concert. I've found 1 song on SoulSeek "Copy" but no others. Anyone out there have any links? I think it has been reissued as an import.

Thanks. I hadn't heard about this one. Do you know any good sources for their music other than the re-release of Welcome-The Plastics?

The first two Plastics LPs can easily be purchased from www.hmv.co.jp
The postage charge is expensive, but it does get to you very quickly.

I remember seeing the Plastics open for the Talking Heads in the summer of '80 in Central Park, before Remain in Light was released. Don't remember too much about them, though.

I've got two cds from when I was in Japan, the album from the 80's released in Canada, and a gold flexi disc. Fun band to listen to. I saw them on a tv show in the 80's and looked for their stuff.

The Plastics had a similar sound to the B-52's. I liked them a lot.. their songs Copy and Top Secret Man are on the top of my list of being classic new wave staples in my collection any day of the week.

The Plastics and b52's toured together and did some sideline projects together too ala "the Snakeman Show" so there's a good reason they shared a similar sound. The Polysics a new Japanese band sounds alot like a newer version of them too.
