I use to call them "Some other descriptive word" Politti. Someone stated earlier to check out their pre-85 stuff, maybe I should. I can find some Payalos' songs I like (Eyes of a Stranger, China Boys, Soldier), so I'll go with them.

This is hard call. I like both of them and I think it would really depend on my mood as to who I would chose. I love Eyes of a Stranger but I think dancing to Politti is so much easy!

I think their sound is so different it really doesn't hold to comparison. Now if I had to choose one over the other strictly on only being able to have one, it would be Payolas hands down. Their earliest material almost borders on post-punk, as does early

Have to admit that I've never heard of Payola, but I do know that scritti politti were one of the best bands of the early 80's: Songs to Remember was genuinly revolutionary at the time, in terms of of music, lyrics, arrangements etc. Listen to LIONS AFTER
