Slightly off-topic, but I'm very curious as to what people regard as their favorite alternative (or otherwise arguably non-mainstream) music after new wave? Anyone else wish to take a stab at their top 20 "90s" bands and albums? Here's my go - I'm sure I've made gross ommisions:

I'll list my top 20 when I have more time but I'd have to put the Judybats "Native Son" CD in the top 5 if not #1. Just some really catchy, offbeat, original and sometimes moody songs. "Don't Drop the Baby" is an all-time fave.

I understand what you're getting at Red. That's why I said "arguably". But frankly, even this stuff got precious little airplay around me, and for me, these genres carried on at least some of the spirit of "new wave" compared to standard garbage pop radio

Sorry if i offended you, I am just trying to drive a 'new wave' point. Ok, true you have listed some excellent albums and its obvious you love Garbage. But most of the bands mentioned (except the Catherine Wheel)are albums which have gone at least gold i

No offense taken. My list was going to beg that response from someone. But worldwide gold and penetration of new england classic rock are pretty different things [:(] It was different in the LA of my youth [V]
