Ok I know its silly , but its the end of an era when WLIR shuts down today at noon, even tho they've been bad for years, the last couple of months were EXCELLENT!!!! they were playing SO MUCH old obscure New Wave that I was soooooooooo happy this past saturday nite was so good with Maxx, I heard tons of stuff from the early 80's I haven't heard in years

Yes LIR was horrible in recent years, the worst being the period between 1995-97, when I stopped listening altogether but it recaptured some of that golden age for me when Malibu Sue very first had the all request morning show & the programming was grunge

Although most of us rarly listened anymore, It was still comforting to actually hear songs like "Nowhere Girl - B Movie" & "Stay" - Comsat Angels, in 2003, on a metro area station.

It will indeed be interesting to see if WCBS would acknowledge this genre of music and play some obscure 80's nuggets as time goes on. Heck, I'm having 70's flashbacks now when I give them a listen! Pretty scary this getting old thing.....
