I got inspired today with the all the talk of our fav bands. I've taken 100 new wave songs, sampled the first few key seconds of each and compiled them into a single mp3 file. Anyone interested in playing Name That Tune?! [:D]

If so, right-click to download both the mp3 and text file of the track numbers. Theres a 2 second gap between each sample. That tab-delimited file also has the start times for each sample so you won't get lost or can come back to a song. Fill out the name of the song and the band next to each track number and submit back to me as text, Excel, or Word: myirwin@comcast.ne (but put a "t" at the end of "net).

Let's say one point for each correct name and band - 200 points possible. If there's interest, I'll give this one week from Sunday the 17th then post top 5 that are the truly knowledgable among us! There are no ridiculously obscure tracks and I've attempted avoid geographical bias with Euro, East & West Coast, and down-under favs - it should be fun for all but still somewhat challenging. I'll post results afterwards.

What's at stake? How about the awed admiration of your compadres? Not enough? Okay, how about either all 100 full tracks on multiple audio CD-Rs or a data DVD of all 4 gigs of new wave stuff in my iPod right now (but not the iPod itself!).

Hey, I only got a couple of responses. Am I totally misreading the interest in this? I thought it'd be a lot of fun with REAL music instead of the usual lists upon lists. Come on. Let me know if anyone's interested.

I have vague ideas and definites and just plain "what the hell is that" on all of them.
