Hey guys,

Really cool listings. I can't believe I forgot Peter Gabriel's "Shock The Monkey" and Kim Carnes "Bette Davis Eyes". "Radioactive" by the Firm is really cool too Justin.

As for Gary Myrick, I sometimes condiser him New Wave and sometimes not. "The Message Is You" is definitely as New Wave as you can get. Did that ever make it on any cd compilation?

Hall & Oates "Maneater" sounds New Wave to me for some reason. If you listen to the extended version, it sounds even more New Wave.

I see that some people listed songs by artists such as Patti Smith and Peter Gabriel as though they're not new wave artists, but i always considered Peter Gabriel(post-Genesis)and especially Patti Smith as new wave artists, just like Brian Eno, John Cale, Iggy Pop, Nico, Bowie, Kraftwerk etc, or to be more accurate, along with artists like Lou Reed, Robert Fripp, Marc Bolan etc. as the mentors of the New wave acts from the late 70' and 80's!?!


How do you people see that?

Speaking of Led Zeppelin, Far Corporation did a New Wavish version of "Stairway To Heaven" in the 80's. I should have included that on my list. The guy on Far Corporation sure sounds a lot like Robert Plant or is that actually Robert Plant singing?

The Firm was made up of Jimmy Page (guitarist: Led Zepplin), Paul Rodgers (vocalist: Bad Company), Chris Slade (drummer: Uriah Heep) and bassist Tony Franklin

Far Corporation was made up of many members from several bands including: Bobby Kimball, David Paich and Steve Lukather (of Toto) as well as David Baretto (of Foreigner)

Some Trivia: Far Corporation was a production by Frank Farian, the man responsible for such successful groups as Boney M, Eruption, Milli Vanilli, La Bouche and No Mercy [:)]

Just because a song is a "hit" from purchases alone does not necessarily deem it as "cool." Case in point: We Built This City.
