Who are they? Local band from the early 80's that kicked ass with original songs that I would go to see after getting out of work. Bands that did not get the big break, but were maybe lucky enough to get a vinyl single deal from a local label. See ,now you know them-only they have different names in your towns.

We share a lot about the breakthrough band (Duran Duran ,REM) and bands we consider to be obscure-maybe because they were not big in the states or only had one or two poorer selling LP'S (Bongos ,Classix Nouveaux , Trio,etc,etc.) Yet popular or not ,they all had one thing in common--record deals with big names. They may not have all been successful, but they all got their break.

Except for the locals that did not get the right strings pulled.

Would it not be great ,if we as a group ,could get some these truly obscure bands some nationwide attention,even if only in this forum , 20 years later?

Don't ask me how ,just a thought, but I would love to hear the bands that never made it big, but were lucky enough to get a local single recorded.

Thinking of it, I'd be perfectly happy to help organize a swap among list members of Nuggets/Pebbles-type compilations of ultra-obscure local early 80's acts. I'll bet amongst ourselves we could come up with some pretty cool stuff.

Was there a US Blue Ruin? The only Blue Ruin I know is an Australian band that took the dark Birthday Party style one step further. If memory serves, lead singer was a guy named Hugo Race.

Or is there another Blue Ruin?
