Name That Tune Game - Classic Edition Results

Postby Frau_Blucher » Thu Nov 03, 2005 9:37 am

Since we've just had three brutal but nevertheless highly interesting Name That Tune games, I thought it was time for a throwback to the way the very first NTTs were set up - lots of songs that hopefully many many people know but very short teaser clips which could perhaps drive you nuts! It's what a couple of people had requested, so now I expect to have a big turnout!

There's an MP3 file containing a total of 50 song clips. Just guess the Title and Artist. The game is on a 100 points basis (1 point each for title and artist). There are 2 seconds of silence between clips. Download your response form below and email it to me for tabulation when you're finished (my email is in the form). Make sure to put your forum screen name on your sheet, so I know who you are. I'll send back your score and the Answer Sheet to each respondent. Please remember NOT to post your responses here!

Here's the link for the response form:

Here's the clips link:
The NTT Classic Sampler

The game will end on Sunday November 13th at 9PM EDT. NOTE NEW END DATE.

Good luck and have fun!

Done.
Thanks Blir for devising a game us non-NW oracles (or at least me) don't feel like completely unworthy playing[8D]

[:D][:D][:D]

Ahhhh!! I had been longing for the days of the original NTTs when us mere mortals could do well.

Couldn't agree more NuWaveRx. If I want to feel like crap, I'll... well... go to work.

So stay away you brainiacs... this is the remedial class! We don't need you around here screwing up the curve.
Thanks Blir - great stuff!

Remedial? Oracles?? BULLPUCKY!!! It's just a different style of game. I personally like getting my brain wracked by the NTTs and discovering new stuff. This one isn't a contest so much as a fun simple game...it'll get old pretty quick and you'll be begging for more of a challenge.

And BTW, it'll be graded on a curve. Bwaaaahahahahah. [}:)]

2nd BTW, I'll bet the there'll be some low scores here as well, and I bet the high score will be exactly the same as the LIR NTT. [;)] It's all a matter of perspective and experiences.

Damn! I have all but one and two weeks to let it bug the shit out of me...

I have two exams on Wednesday and that riff will be going through my head the whole time. [:(!]

GAME UPDATE

Even though it's only been a couple of days, we've got the first ten entrants, enough to tabulate the great average - an 84. Don't be intimidated though - the scores are all over the place. Let's see those answer sheets

Please remember not to post in the forum but instead mail the answers back to me.

Game ends Sunday November 13th at 9PM EDT. NOTE NEW END DATE.

Thanks, Blir, for a swell "back-to-the-basics" version of NTT.[:)]

All I gotta say is, I *know* #48, and it's absolutely killing me that I couldn't get it. Ughh...

But overall, yes I feel much better about my NW-ness after this contest. The last three were pretty depressing.

I *think* that was a 94, if Fritz doesn't go hogwild on the parentheses. ;) The other three songs I can say with a fair amount of confidence that I have never heard in my lame little life.

Fun one! Thanks!!!

Fritzy? Well, like, who's Fritzy? Answer me, Debbie, who's Fritzy? Does anybody here know Fritzy? Are you Fritzy? There was one guy named Fritzy but he was a total geek, he always had food in his braces. Answer me, Debbie, who's Fritzy? Oh God, this is like that movie Citizen Kane, you know, where you later find out Rosebud was a sled? But we'll never know who Fritzy was because ,like, she's dead.

Yes! Finally a contest for those of us who wear the helmets and ride the short bus! I'll be submitting my entry soon! I gave up playing the mensa version of the game long ago because I failed so miserably...[:o)][:o)]
