How Many Of You Remember These Obscure New Wavers?

Does anyone recall any of these obscure New Wave artists from the 80's?

Sterling-They had one great album on the A&M label called "City Kids"
I love their song "Robosexual" It was very New Wave.

3D-They did 2 albums on the Polydor label.The first one of the two albums was the better one of the two,and their single from it,got a little bit of radio airplay.It was called "Telephone Number"

Fischer Z-They did quite a few albums,but apparently if you weren't a collector,or a real New Waver and bought just about every album on the market from just about every New Wave band that ever existed,you wouldn't know who these guys were,and I basically did just that.To me Fischer Z wasn't really obscure,but to the average person nobody would remember them.

Angel City-That first album kicked some real butt,but after that they totally changed their style and went for a heavy metal style.But their "Face To Face" album which was their first had a real Punky attitude and you were able to hear it in their music and their songs too.I love the single that they released from it too "Will I Ever See Your Face Again" got some radio airplay for awhile.I also thought that "Shadow Boxer" was another great song from that album too.Their lead singer Doc Neeson had a very punky vocal,and almost sounded like he should have been a member of The Sex Pistols.


Rodway-Steve Rodway was his real name,and the single release from that one album "Don't Stop Trying" was good but I felt that the opening song starting out on side one,really should have been the single,because at that time the song "I Am Electric" sounded like he was copying the Men At Work style with the "Who Can It Be Now" horns ,and since that was such a huge hit at the time,I believe that Rodway's "I Am Electric" could have made in onto the charts as well.

Michael Des Barres-His first album on the Dreamland label and the single from off of it "I'm Only Human" I thought was a very good album.I also liked the song "I'm Not A Bullfighter" This is the same Michael Des Barres,by the way who also became an actor,later on and also co-wrote the Animotion hit with Holly Knight,and also recorded it together as well "Obsession" But I still prefer his Dreamland solo album to that.


Suzi Andrews-A very rare import album where she covered a few New Wave classics at the time such as,Trio's "Da Da Da" and Falco,and After The Fire's "De Kommissar" With a name like Suzi Andrews being as an American name like mom and apple pie,who knew that she could also sing in German as well? Great stuff

There are more,it's just that I can't think of anymore at this time,as it is really late right now,and I am having a very hard time in staying awake right now.

Don't know about the others, but Fischer Z are always in my mind and heart. I use to play "The worker", the incredibly "Pretty paracetamol" and "Waxdolls" in my dj sets, and "Marliese" is one of my all-around favourite songs from the 80s.

Are you talking about the same Angels that did "Marseilles"? If so, that's the only song I know by them. It's a good one, but seemed more rock than new wave. Anyone got a copy of "Marseilles" they'd be willing to share, while we're on the subject?

Yes, the Australian band, the Angels, recorded "Marseilles". It is on the Australian version of Face to Face (1978), the US version (under the name Angel City) of Face to Face (1980), a live Angels album called "Liveline" (1987/1999), and an Angels great

Fischer-z had some great tunes. "Marliese" , "The Writer" and "Room Service" were all songs that were among my favorites. I also thought "Remember Russia" was pretty cool. I imagine the most known song was "So Long"--also pretty good.
