Armies Of the Night

In 1986, Sparks released "Music You Can Dance To" and the album included "Armies Of The Night." This album was recently re-released as "The Best Of Sparks: Music You Can Dance To," which was basically the same album except for the fact "Armies Of The Night" was dropped and replace by another song. Why was this?

Interesting - this track wasn't included on the cassette version I bought at that time.

This track is off the "Fright Night" OST, put out in 1985, so maybe they added it for export outside of the USA?

I'm really not sure, but I did manage to get a hold of the OST from my girlfriend which contains all of the songs from the film and the entire score by Brad Fiedel. The soundtrack also features a very rare Devo track called Let's Talk, which even after seeing it about 30 times, I don't recall being in the actual movie.

I don't know all the details but I think this was released on Curb Records--one of the worst labels of all time. The "Best of Sparks" title is a wholly misleading trick to make people think it's a true greatest hits album. I wouldn't be surprised if Curb dropped that track or crappily re-recorded all the songs or did something else equally stupid.

A little while back, I found a CD version of the "BEST OF" that was an European export and I could have sworn I saw "Armies Of The Night" on the list, but afterwords, everytime I found the album the track was replaced. Maybe I just made a mistake. Either that or there is a rarity version of the album floating around somewhere.

Really, could you send me the DEVO track? Is the version of the soundtrack you have the 150 limited CD edition version?

And that song by DEVO is playing in Charlie Brewster's car as soon as he pulls up next to his house. I think it's when he meets the pretty hooker in blue.
