Did you ever see that Honeymooners where Ralph is practicing for the music show and Norton keeps warming up by playing Swanee River? Then when Ralph gets on the show the first song played is Swanee River and he doesn't know it!

I just had that happen on this quiz. One of the songs is a song my girlfriend played constantly and for the life of me I couldn't remember the name of it or who did it!!

Take me down a couple of pegs why don't ya!!

Roq, this is strange indeed. You got one of the highest scores...AND you're the only one who completely missed #33! Unbefreakinglievable.

Oh, but you didn't get the most amusing answer..."Rush??" for #20. Love it. [:D]

Brain Farts - yep that is what you get when you listen to this stuff for too long...I am a lyrics gal and what the heck was I thinking...instead of song titles I write the lyrics down instead.

Not going to complain about my score! [^]

Host: "So for $64,000, who wrote Swanee River?"
Ralph: "Ed Norton?"

Priceless!

Ok, my results are submitted and I didn't drool on myself this time... yay!

Over 25 responses have came in so time for another update - an 86 average and some big scores. A lot of the same songs being missed consistently. All songs have long been answered...nothing too mysterious here.

If I haven't responded to your email, I haven't gotten your answers. And if I have responded, please remember not to post any answers in the forum. Thanks.

Game ends Sunday November 13th at 9PM EDT. NOTE NEW END DATE.

(I can't see us dragging this out for another whole week when so many have already submitted - if you haven't, get 'em in quick because another NTT is coming!)

I mentioned that Honeymooners bit because it was so close to what I felt!! Any idea how many times I have heard -------!??! So then it comes up and I go COMPLETELY BLANK!! There was no one around and I was still embarrassed!! I mean how can you claim to be into New Wave and yet forget one of the staples!! I couldn't get the band...the song...NUTHIN'!!!!

It's like the day I forgot how to spell "who" and was looking under "H" in the dictionary for it. I kid you not.

Jeez, I used to be a spry young buck kicking my heels up.....sigh....."'nother brewski bartender and keep em commin'".

NTT Classic Results

Given all the great scores, we won’t go with a simple 1st, 2nd or 3rd place but an honor roll instead of our A+, A and A- New Wave 101 acolytes:

A+ ...New Wave Masters:
100: Jason2 – definitely NOT your know-nothing record exec!
98: Otters Walk Among Us – never met a pop song he didn’t like…or know!
A ...New Wave Jr. Gurus:
95: KnowItAllRecords – didn’t quite know it all…but damned close.
94: Abacab – great score…odd new waver name.
94: FritzB – can give a mean NTT…and take a mean NTT.
94: Randall Roq – trained him well KROQ has, strong is he in the Wave.
94: SkinnyTie – no doubt he wore one back in the day.
93: Grayson – Mr. Consistency. Freaking there every time.
93: S. – I thought I recognized that S on your chest.
93: Schwenko – excellent of course…except for him and ST missing GOF who we saw in concert!
A- ...New Wave Disciples:
92.5: Brainiac – uh, yeah, apparently.
92: Cubby – he’s back...with authority!
92: DJ Wave – Connecticut new wave chick extraordinaire.
92: SomebodySomewhere – somewhere there is someone…who knows new wave.
90: 2Nu – a Lawn Guyland waver.
90: Marie3 – a Lawn Girland waver.
90: Eeyore – hopefully this’ll make your gray skies blue.
90: LovePlusOne – was wearing his favorite (lucky) shirt.
90: NuWaveRX – he’s got the prescription for…oh never mind.
(and Dave with an 89…missed it by that much)

Congrats on your diplomas…party’s at my house! And now for the answers below. Average was 86 with what may be a record turnout of 34 entrants, yeah! I was surprised at how many people missed Girl of My Dreams right off the bat – a power pop gem. Surprise led to dismay at the big Dis that Gang of Four got. These are the two songs I’ll post in all their 320kbps glory since most of the rest are pretty common, even the other big misses, Dirty Creature and The Love Parade (!). Thanks to all who played.

My score is undone by the fact that I totally missed BLUE MONDAY!!!! And then stupidly mentioned the song in a post long before the contest was over!!!

How the HELL do you miss BLUE MONDAY!?!?! I think I answered How Does It Feel - Tin Tin or some such ridiculous answer!

MORON!!!

Fun contest but now my self-esteem is in the toilet....thanks?!

There's nothing left for me here...

Blir, I want to learn the ways of the Wave and become a jedi like my father.

Ouch Roq, to think only Blue Monday seperated you from "Master". The path to new wave salvation is narrow and as difficult to travel as a Razor's Edge. Oops, mixing my movie metaphors. [:I]

Hey great job there fellow Der Kommissar.
I have to admit that my submission was rather hasty and loosie goosie with the responses. (Damn NW Hubris!)[:I]
I KNOW I'll get slammed by the latest NTT installment.[B)]

The 92.5 is actually me, not "Brainiac"-- that was just my comment on my form.
Anyways, I was wondering if I could have my score rounded up to 92.7, just for nostalgia's sake?

I consider it quite an honor to be even in the same ballpark with y'all--seriously

Thanks again Blir for all of the hard work you obviously put into these NTT games

Time to bone up on Graham, Elvis, Joe and the rest before I take the next one...
