WLIR Songs

As follow-up to the WLIR/WDRE NTT, are there any songs that you automatically associate with LIR? B-52s - "Party Out of Bounds" (Pa-pa-pa-paaaarrr-tttyyyy) and The The - "Uncertain Smile" (xylophone) were used for station intros and always remind me of LIR. Psychedelic Furs - "Heartbeat" was used in a commercial for a club of the same name. Any others?

For some reason, I associate the beginning of The Cure's "Why Can't I Be You?" with WLIR/WDRE. I think maybe it was used for a promo or something. "Party Out Of Bounds" is a good choice. Whenever I think of the old Energizer commercial I think of The Maximizer (Oi! Too roight!) and there are just some bands, like The B-52's and The Ramones who I will always associate with that station. [:D]

That being said...

DM's 'Route 66' (Beatmasters mix) was played Ad Nauseum back its heyday, right after the LIR>DRE changeover. For a while I was convinced it was the unofficial station promo song.

Yello's 'Vicious Games' was used for many a nightclub spot ad.

As pointed out already, snippets of Nik Kershaw's 'When a Heart Beats' and Psych Furs 'Heartbeat' were used for promos for what else? 'Heartbeat' night club of Oyster Bay!

I'm sure more will come to mind. [|)]

OMG dude, I used to still hear that right up to when the north fork LIR went off air this year. Had no idea it was from back in the day too. Always thought that was pretty cool.

The sampled line: "So I Got into Camouflage..." (from GoF's 'I Love a Man In a Uniform') was used to plug for 'Camouflage' night club in Bayside back in the day.[8D]
