Billy Idol the big 50

Postby red x red » Wed Nov 09, 2005 4:03 am

Is anyone else disturbed by the fact that Billy Idol turns 50 November 30th?

I was thumbing through the AARP magazine that comes to our office (for my boss thank-you-very-much). Two things disturbed me: 1) that Billy Idol's name is mentioned in that magazine, and 2) that he is turning 50.

I guess there is one more disturbing thing . . . and that is the fact that I occassionally thumb through the AARP magazine! [:I]

I saw Sunset Blvd again recently and had forgotten that that crazy old lady Norma Desmond is supposed to be 50 in the film. Weird when I consider I have friends that age.

So does Billy now have a Rebel Cough?

Yeah, that's pretty embarrassing![:D]
In all seriousness, though, it's hard to believe about Billy Idol. He still looks AMAZING. Yeah, his face is pretty scary, but he's still pretty ripped, and energetic, and he still puts on a hell of a show. I call that an inspiration!

Good to hear he can still put on a hell of a show. I saw him back in '86 as the opening band for Duran Duran. He blew them away.

We just celebrated his birthday at our Sex Dwarf party this past Friday. Here was the flyer...

The more I listen to his new song, "Body Snatcher" the more I like it. The live iTunes versions seems to have a bit more of an edge.

Idol still rocks!

I hope I look as good as Billy at 50. Considering my hair has been falling out since I was 24, I doubt that will be the case.

Time was on my side for so long, 'til it said "so long" to me.

I saw Billy in about '91 or so.

It was just after his motorcycle accident and he was hobbling around the stage with a cane . . . I suppose that should have tainted my view of him, eh? Nevertheless, it was a vibrant, exciting concert. Billy just seems eternally young to me. It simply caught me off guard to see his 50th birthday listed in the AARP rag.

No offense to anyone else approaching that age (myself included)!
