The Skids Or Bog Country Who Did You Like Overall?

Postby newwavepopman » Fri May 21, 2004 2:48 pm

This is a very good question.Well to me I preferred the Skids alot more than I did Big Country.I thought that The Skids offered alot more in their music than Big Country ever did.Plus,The Skids were alot less top 40 than Big Country was. That really isn't saying all that much because both bands in their prime had quite a few top 40 hits over in the UK and overseas.

Still I thought that The Skids music offered alot more and they didn't really change their style.Wheras after Big Country's album "Peace In Our Time" which included their hit "King Of Emotion" really was their last good album. After that I thought it was pretty much all downhill from there. They started become more of a Rock 'N' Roll band, and really weren't New Wave anymore, and it should alot in their music.Besides that I liked more of the raw style that The Skids had to offer alot more.

What do you all think? Who do you think overall was the better band?

Except for "Fields of Fire", I never cared much for Big Country. Their first album is just okay to me, and when I heard "Wonderland" (their first single off the 2nd album), I became disenchanted with them. There was just nothing there for me, I don't kn

Skids without a doubt. The edgy post punk of Scared To Dance- with milestones like Into the Valley and Melancholy Soldiers- is their finest moment IMO.

Although I definitely like both the Skids and Big Country, my choice between the two is absolutely the Skids.
