FYI: My all time favorite Springsteen track is the oft neglected but (IMO) kickass 'Ramrod'. A spirited 'go fast' song with driving percussion, vocals, keyboard riffs, and that big man Clarence Clemmons sax.
Don't believe me?, <a href="http://s49.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=241124PPWK4W90EBI84UXA5NIV" target="blank">give it a listen</a> [;)]
Sorry, but the all too familiar marque names of classic & prog rock come to mind here (hey that's what FM AOR radio was during my musical pubescence!)
:: cringes then shrugs ::
Well then I'll stick to the ones that influenced me the most during that time and still resonate with me to this day.
(love 'em or hate'em) here they are.. with the tracks or as the era evoked- ENTIRE Albums (don't see that much, if at all, anymore [V])
ACDC- Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, TNT (Raw & Raunchy)
Aerosmith- Dream On, Walk This Way, Sweet Emotion (Haunting melodies and raucous riffs)
Alan Parsons Project - I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You (Great lead in and build up to this great in your face lyrical put you down)
Bob Seger- Night Moves, Main Street (Another pair of wistful and lyrically telling songs)
Boston- The Whole Debut Album (These boys from MIT were really onto something.. what a sonic epiphany- the sound!, the ambiance!, the kick ass exaltation of it all!)
Dan Fogelberg- Phoenix Album (The title track is an all time fave- haunting instrumental lead in of Tullamore Dew to the musical tour de force of the title track)
Eagles- One Of These Nights, Hotel California Album (Classic melodic and lyrical masterpieces featuring country infused acoustic and electric guitar rock)
Elton John- (Too many to list from this musical Genius)
ELO - Fire On High, Sweet Talkin Woman, Mr Blue Sky (masterful and sweeping over the top rockorchestral arrangements)
ELP- From The Beginning, Father Christmas (beautiful acoustic guitar and spacey early synths blended on the former and a timeless cautionary antiwar and holiday message blended into latter)
Eric Clapton- Let It Rain, Slowhand Album (fabulous guitar work on my alltime fave 'The Core')
Fleetwood Mac- Self Titled Album, Rumours (beautiful, dreamy, angry, wistfull, melancholy - a kalaidoscope of emotions though Clinton killed 'Don't Stop' for me)
Heart- Magic Man, Crazy On You (a pair of songs tailor made for raging adolescent hormones)
Led Zep- Houses of The Holy (Fave Zep riff), Cashmir, Ramble On, Black Country Woman (ooh, too damn sexy!)
Paul McCartney & Wings- Uncle Albert-Admiral Halsey, Another Day, My Love, Jet (For some reason these songs all came out in the summer and thus harken back to my days in summer camp toting around my trusty AM/FM 'Solid State' transistor radio listening to NY's 99X)
Peter Frampton- (((LIVE))) Do You Feel Like We Do, Show Me The Way (The first time the ambiance of a live performance was truly captured in an analog recording and surpassed the sonic impact of the original studio versions of the songs, ABSOLUTELY AMAZING)
((((Pink Floyd)))) - Albums Baby.. Albums... DSoTM, Wish You Were Here, Animals, (much of) The Wall (SHEER UNALDULTERATED BRILLIANCE!!)
Rod Stewart- Maggie May, Every Picture Tells a Story, You Wear It Well (lyrically and musically evocative)
Steely Dan- Do It Again, Rikki Don't Lose That Number, Aja Album (Top notch studio production values rendered sonically FLAWLESS musical renderings of these timeless tracks)
Steve Miller Band- The Joker, Fly Like An Eagle Album, Jungle Love
Supertramp- Give a Little Bit, Breakfast In America Album
The Moody Blues- Just a Singer In A Rock & Roll Band, My Seesaw
The Rolling Stones- (too many to list)

Yes- Roundabout
Pretty typical for the genre, but still my faves.[;)]
