There was a Malaria! techno remix album released around 1993. I've got a couple of CDs that Gudrun Gut put out also in the 90s ... ambient electronics; some with spoken word, others sung (Members of the Ocean Club). Inga Humpe is one of the Ocean Club members [:)].

I just came across this forum and registered. I remember several new wave bands from Germany in the 80's ... There was Spliff, Spyder Murphy Gang, Clowns & Helden, Klaus Lage Band, Grobschnitt, Ina Deter, Ideal, Joachim Witt, Karat, Nena, Markus, UKW, just to name a few[8D]

Nena:Best Album: 99 Red Balloons. Best song: Just A Dream

Sorry for putting older postings up, but I can'resist answering to this one, caus there's a few bands missing BADLY on the lists above:


Palais Schaumburg (their s.n album is great), Holger Hiller (former singer of Palais Schaumburg). Einstürzende Neubauten, Me & The Heat (who were a great band in 1984 and had a good album out aswell). CAN/Czukay/Liebezeit made fantastic music also in coöperation with Jah Wobble. The Box: the German version of Clock DVA. Kowalski, a dance club band. Liaison Dangereuse was a big dance-NWthing overhere too. DAF was one of my faves uptill 1981. Propaganda was mentioned here. I think they made a nice mixture of easy to catch-long to enjoy music. Lots of respect for Frau Brückner aswell (and her solo aswell). Germany had lots to offer !

Lately I've been playing a lot of Phillip Boa & The Voodooclub - they started recording in 1985, and have records out to this day. Unfortunately, I can't find anything about them on the Web in English...

Weird. His official page used to have an English version, but now it's nowhere to be found. Boa's great. I prefer his stuff with the original Voodooclub(the loss of Pia Lunda's vocals really hurts) but the later more techno-ish material is also worth hearing. It's unfortunate that so few people outside of Germany seem to know who this guy is, even though he has appeared on an Aphex Twin remix cd. He also did an excellent cover of DM's Enjoy The Silence, which I can upload to Yousend it if you haven't heard it yet.
