Ultimate New Wave Band Poll - Last Call!

Freewave did a great job awhile ago on the song and band poll. The only thing left is a huge master tabulation of the top 100 NWO Favorite/Greatest Bands. This was sorta done a long time ago, but the sampling was week. This would be good again since there's so many new members. If you're willing to cooperate, I'll tabulate them.

Instead of posting 100, how about we [b]pick your favorite and/or greatest Top 25[/b]...however you take the meaning to be, [b]in order[/b]. New Wave, Power Pop, Punk...anything in the similar genres from late 70s through 80s. I'll give them points in reverse order of appearance and total the top 100:

20 to 16 pts for 1 thru 5
10 pts for 6 thru 10
6 pts for 11 thru 15
4 pts for 16 thru 20
2 pts for 21-25

As a tie-breaker, I'm also gonna give 1 additional point for every appearance on a list. You can help by listing them in order but without any numbers, symbols, or "the" in their names for easier tabulation. I'll leave it up for you to go back and edit until the we decide to close the thread. Interested? I'll start - a lot of obvious ones I guess but there's a reason why they were the giants:

This is tough, because some of the stuff from some of my list is very time sensitive. Like the Furs, EC or Joe Jackson I'm a huge fan of everything before they got flaccid and mainstream...and bands who'd be on my list like the NY Dolls and Television were gone by the late 70s...if I went 77-84, the list might look like..

Blir, to make this even more accurate you should involve age into the curve. Early punk bands will most likely score less because a great number of posters are in their 30s, so a lot of them may miss out with anybody other than us old farts...actually you could break this down to 10 fave punk, then New Wave, then everything else...but then I guess we'd argue for 2 weeks over who's New Wave and who's not, so this will have to do...ok, I'm done...

Stranglers - another band who's stock has appreciated in my eyes quite a bit recently.

Yeah, I'm with ya. I was totally bemoaning that Sex Pistols and Ramones fell into the 26-30th slots. If you'd just asked me if they were top 25, I would have said hell yes, no question. But when I take a list and start moving people around and prioritizing, I placed almost exactly 25 bands before each one - a shame for sure. It's gonna be imperfect, no doubt, but it might also be a true reflection of what we wanna listen to right now.

I thought I might as well add a few obsuce bands, because I listen to them a lot:

Academy: On The Beach is one of my all-time favourites. A shame they never made an album.
Fiat Lux: They did make an album, but it went unreleased. Brilliant couple of singles though.
Positive Noise: I own all their albums and even though only one of them is good they still deserve to be in here.

I'm sure I forgot some bands but I suppose it will even out eventually.
