Streetheart - Under My Thumb

Ok, usually I don't ask for songs, but this is one that I've been trying to get for some time.

It's a cover of the Rolling Stones - Under My Thumb, which is a song I don't really like, but the Streetheart version is just....good, and with a definite 80's feel to it. I highly reccomend it. Is anyone able to provide this (or any Streetheart music, actually?) I'd prefer the hub if possible, thanks.

I know it's a lot and you don't have to provide them if you don't want to, but why don't you try out our hub?

Legal might be a strong word.

Maybe more accurate to say that some technical decisions have made it very unlikely that any prosections would ever be successful without the law being made much more explicit. And since our minority government had many more important things on it's agenda before the election was called, for the moment its carte blanche...

If there is any Streetheart in particular that you were looking for other than Under My Thumb, I probably have more of it than any sane person should own up to.

I'm not on the hub because I am on emule on a pretty regular basis (just about full time) and I'm not keen on running two peer-to-peer file transfer programs at the same time.

I really, really like that version of Under My Thumb! I've never heard of Streetheart though. Great cover!

I recall Kim Carnes did a passable version of it too, although I have never been able to find it.

Wow Terim, thanks a lot.

To think I've been looking for these for months, all I had to do was ask...

The only other Streetheart song on my list is "One More Time" although I'd eventually like full albums, that's not appropriate for here I wouldn't say.

If Pukka Orchestra was recently put to CD, I'll definitly have to pick it up.

Speaking of Canadians, does anyone have "Bob & Doug McKenzie - Take Off?" that song was hilarious. (You'd almost think I was Canadian sometimes....) Although I never figured out why many Canadian bands got NO airplay here, some of the best music to come out of the 80's was from Canada IMO.

I've always enjoyed Pukka Orchestra's version of Listen To The Radio over Tom Robinson's original (I'm 99% sure I have a copy if anyone is interested). The whole Pukka Orchestra CD is pretty good.

I think I have a 256 kbps version of Rough Trade - All Touch if Terim's generous posting does not satisfy your needs.

Well, it is legal for a Canadian to download music. However, it is not legal for you to upload (share) it with other people. The reason being is that Canadians pay a small (emphasis on small) media tax (hard drives, tapes, CDs, mp3 players ...) so therefore you can download the music legally, since that small tax goes to the music industry. From what I understand, it literally translates to pennies for the artists. Regardless, that is the only Canadian I don't mind paying! [:)]

Ironically, we don't pay the tax on DVDs which is why a blank DVD is typically cheaper than a CD in Canada? So in effect, you are not allowed to legally store your media on a DVD...

Anyway, a lot of good Canadian Music got mentioned. Orphan/The Pumps and Harlequin and Streetheart spend a lot of time in Winnipeg and they play a local rock bar here, so I often get to see them for cost of a beer or two. [:D]

Another good New Wave Canadian band that did not get mentioned is Strange Advance.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that a Canadian citizen could only be held responsible for illegal music sharing if the artist(s) in question were also Canadian. Something to do with CAPAC I think.
