After hearing of all the reaction of the likes of Marylyn Manson some good some bad and some indifferent. It got me thinking about how we may have offended and older generation with one of our bands covering their tunes. Let me think of a band..... I got it I'll pick on Soft Cell since I'm currently listening to "Non Stop Erotic Cabaret". Now they probably pissed off a lot of non-new waver people just being themselves back in the day. But they may have made things even worse when they started to cover Jimmy Hendrix tunes. I remember when I was a sophomore in HS and this big tough Rocker Senior guy pushes me to the ground holding up a Soft Cell tape he commandeered from one of my friends and starts yelling at me "who the hell do you think you guys are! doing Hendrix songs like this it sounds like crap” like I had something to do with Marc's selection of tunes in the Soft Cell studio. "Oh yeah like it's my fault” as if I produced the album. Lucky for me Mr. White (History teacher) and black belt in Ju Jitsu came in the hall to save the day. Anyways that tough stoner-rocker dude is probably in jail or riding around in a Chopper built on TV listening to Soundgarden while robbing banks with his biker gang in the Phoenix, AZ area. (or what ever it is those rocker people do)

Yeah some including me complain that Marylyn Manson is a sleaze. Wait a minute... Our beloved Soft Cell, and you got to admit this, they are a bunch of sleaze balls too. (I am writing this while listening to "Entertain Me" love those back up singers they sound so tart) Case in point: Would you let Marc Almond and Dave Ball babysit your kids??? hummm??? For those loving New Wave parents just watch "Non Stop Exotic Video Show" and ask yourselves, "Would you trust your children to Marc Almond and company?"[:0] remember the lyrics in "Sex Dwarf"

Interesting points made, Quite Life. I also would add The Plasmatics and Jane County into this realm of shock value. Would you really want your children to hang around these characters?

Kimii, Thanks for shedding more light on this freak. I never cared for any of his music and think he is a sham, but if he lives like a satanist pig as well, all the more reason to keep your children from his music.

I think Marilyn Manson's Satanic schtick could be very easily thwarted if someone from the Catholic/Christian hiearchy went on television and said "Y'know, I heard Mechanical Animals and I sorta liked it".
