Not quite new wave...

Not quite new wave...

Does anyone remember a dancy song off the radio from about 87 or so, called "one day in my life" or "a day in the life" or something like that?

It was sung by a guy, and it was kind of a story abut his day, including one bit where he is riding the bus or subway or something and he meets this girl, and they lyrics are something like "she puts my had on her thigh, the girl is a guy"

Not much to go on, and not really new wave, but I'm striking out everywhere else. Thanks!

JWB Hits the Beat has a song called One Day in My Life. I can't find any lyrics for it though.

There's similarities between the song you're describing and "Parents Just Don't Understand" by DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince. Only, the title is way different, the singer is in a Porsche, and the girl turns out to be a 12 year old runaway. But hey, the year's about right (88). [;)]

Long shot: David Halliday's "He's My Girl" got some radio play in 1987. I've no idea about the lyrics, or what the song even sounds like, but the thigh/guy lyrics might be a clue...

This version is actually the Razormaid remix.

The hook for "One Day In My Life" (in fact, the whole song) was lifted from a mid-80's disco hit by Lime, "Babe, We're Gonna Love Tonight."
