I like that one, too! IT's probably the only Vanessa Williams song I like. Recently I heard on radiohidebound.com Karla Bonoff's "Someone to Lay Down Beside Me." I hadn't heard that in a long time and I forgot how much I like that one.

I also like Jane Siberry's "It Can't Rain All the Time," Depeche Mode's "Somebody" and "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel, which isn't really all that sappy. But it's pretty sappy for Gabriel.

I'll add one more to my list. In '81, I was hanging out with a girl I had a crush on, and this song I liked, "First Time" by Styx played on the radio. About 10 minutes later, I worked up the courage to tell her I love her, and she became my first girlfriend.

I listened to a 30 second clip of "First Time" before I posted this. MY GOD, I must have been filled with some sort of alien teenage angst hormones to be influenced by this dreck. I'd rather undergo a colonoscopy than listen to the full song again. But without the song, I would've become a different person. (Thanks, R, wherever you are.)

Sheesh, I misread the thread title and saw "SNAPPY", not "SAPPY". Already got the dork award hanging around my neck everybody. Anyway, I did start a little thread on <a href="http://www.nwoutpost.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=9917">"SNAPPY"</a> songs [8D]

Anyway, sappy? I dunno man. Quite a few. Anything on the Air Supply or Carpenters Greatest Hits discs. Depeche Mode's Somebody was cool sappy but shame sappy? I'm gonna go with Neil Diamond's Love on the Rocks.

Good god I thought of one.

It's truly shameful and is by one of the bands I hate with the greatest passion.

It's "I Can't Tell You Why" by The Eagles. [xx(]

Thing is, I didn't know until about 2 years ago that it WAS an Eagles song. In fact, I thought it was some female soul singer...somebody Roberta Flack-ish or something.

Still, it's overly smooth and dopey but it has a nice groove and melancholy ambience. Can't help but like it.

Even though all the Eagles except Joe Walsh suck the devils onion ring.
