What the hell are FELT?!

Could they reside in a super-grouping of generic "new wave" or not at all? Are they just part of that Indie-Pop undercurrent that's coexisted with various genres from the 60s all the way through current times? Help, I must sleep comfortably tonight knowing I've cataloged them properly!

the singing (vocals by lawrence) is very bob dylan at times, and when martin duffy the hammond player gets involved, it can be quite jazzy in a cool sort-of way.
overall, a jimmy smith meets "the band" sort-of vibe.
look out also for lawrence's current quirky synthpop band "denim"

felt though are "brilliant".

i think he's moved on from denim. his new project is called go-kart mozart

But also, what do you personally think? Could this be lumped under a generic new wave blanket or is it really indie-pop, completely seperate from new wave??

i think felt are too retro to be new-wave, the sound is too rooted in the jangly 60's sound: more like arthur lee's LOVE circa. "forever changes".
great band though - i love everything they've done (and all their albums have been re-released on gorgeous little cd sleeves!)

oops - yeah he's now working under the name go-kart mozart(inspired by the line from "born to run" - go kart mozart was checking-out the weather chart to see if it was safe to go outside)... but i prefer the denim material (no pun intended) - an indie pub-rock band on a "chicory tip"![:D]
