Whats do you think of this band ?
Your fav. album and song ?

I really enjoyed and still do enjoy the hit single : shouldn't have to be like that.

They are well known here in our country because of their ballads/lovesongs but for me,i love the LP "Songs" because i think they are at their peak of their careers when they released that LP back in '86...

kinda postpunk/gothic in their early material though they matured in songwriting when they released this LP & "Light & Shade" but i count "Songs" as the much stronger LP ever released by this Norwegian group...

cheers!

Can't say I'm a huge fan of FLL, but I do like "Come Summer" (esp. the extended version).

Their first LP 'In Silence' sounds remarkably like Joy Division (as did a million other bands at the time), but by the time 'Small Mercies' came out, they had pretty much found their own style.

And I too wouldn't mind having Come Summer (extended version) on CD some day, maybe when they remaster/reissue 'Songs'?

Oh yeah. Nice band, great songs, so much so that they dominated the airwaves in the Philippines back then that I didn't see the need to buy my own albums! Sing any of their songs and I would sing 'em with you! [:o)] [:o)]

A Moment Like This is one of my favorites. But I do not know from which album it is. Sounds dark--maybe their 1st ?

Yes, 'A Moment Like This' is from their 1st album, which recently got reissued on cd. Well worth getting if you like their early style.

Both really nice guys and one of my all-time favorite bands. I wrote nearly everything about them at allmusic.com because I'm such a fan. They epitomized the '80s for me in Manila. The last Fra Lippo Lippi CD, "In A Brilliant White," was excellent as well. Only released in the Philippines.

Yeps Fra Lippo Lippi is a great band! I watched their first concert in Manila at The Folk Arts Theater, after a few songs , we were already standing on the chairs, holding our lighters, what a night! After this show, the band came back 2 or three more times in Manila to perform, well I didn't watch those shows, for me the magic had a bit dissipated but they were still drawing crowds...The best album? Songs of course since it includes their three Mega Hits
Shouldn't Have To Be Like That, Everytime I See You and The Distance Between Us, but from the same album Come Summer is nice as well as two of my favorites Just Like Me and Coming Home. Actually all the songs of this album are great. Their next best album is Light and Shade with.... Light and Shade, Angel etc...In terms of Compilation: The Virgin Years is a good one.

Have all the Fra Lippo Lippi releases on CD. Not a bad one in the bunch, unless you just dislike extremely smooth vocal/synth pop, with the exception of their 2 earlier releases that are a darker synth sound, while still excellent. Even the later CD's into the 90s are excellent IMO. They just had that perfectly smooth, lush sound that was delivered perfectly. Great artists.

yeah i remember that one. Nov 5-6,1988, The sales was so amazing so they decided to perform 2 more days (Nov 12-13,1988). Hehe I remember that one, I watched Nov 5,6 and 12 with 3 different women. Harharhar.

The dates coincidentally was 33 years where Marty McFly went back in time (Nov 5-12) in the movie Back To The Future. (non-relevant of course)
