Supporting The New Wave Outpost

Obviously this website/message board is a big part of some of our lives, and it's important that it continue to exist.
Speaking with El Presidente at the recent NYC NWO convocation he mentioned that the present server was not the ideal one (not that he was complaining, just that there were some shortcomings).
How can we insure that the NWO continues to exist?
For one thing, I believe that if one uses the links to The Ideal Copy and Amazon.com on the homepage, this generates some revenue. I must admit that I have not used these portals previously, but will try to do so in the future, and would encourage everyone else to do likewise.
Not sure what else can/should be done. I don't see any solicitation for funds from the NWO itself, although WW mentioned that he would gladly contribute a modest amount of kash, and thought that others might do so.

I wholeheartedly concur that we NWO'rs should consider a 'charitable contribution' to NWO as a means to help sustain and improve this site.

The benefits are obvious to everyone and given the diverse group that comes to this place for their daily online social and entertainment media 'fix', it is not out of line IMO to ask for a little 'quid pro quo' here.

No guilt trip intended mind you! [}:)][;)]

I'm in! [:D]
Wasn't there a "donate" logo on this site at one time? I don't see anyplace like that on this site.
And, I didn't know about about using the links for The Ideal Copy or Amazon.com. I could have done that a few times already. [:(]

Wow right, congrats Schwenko...and on such a noble note as well.

To the matter at hand, I get the definite vibe from Mike that he'd never overty solicit from us. However, I'd love to see a non-invasive "donate now" link where one could even set up a yearly automatic payment. I'd do it in a flash.

I think Mike had to remove the "donate" button because it looked like he was profiting from the Song of the Week mp3s he puts up. Yeah, WHATever.....Did'nt know about the Ideal Copy and Amazon portal deals. Will definitely go through NWO for those sites from now on. Hey Mike, can I still Paypal you through your e-mail address?

I also didn't know about the Amazon.com and the Ideal Copy links thru this site; will use those from now on. And sure, I'd donate.

I appreciate all your kindness and support, everyone.

Here's a little info: my current web host costs me around $125/year to host the site plus the database back-end (SQL Server) that runs this board and the music lists. As you're all aware, the board goes down from time to time much to the annoyance of us all -- especially me. The web hosting company tries to cram too many databases onto a single server and it only takes one bad apple -- some nimrod who doesn't know how to properly write dynamic web code involving databases -- to cause the server grief. This explains the downtime which typically requires the server to be restarted.

I would appreciate any web hosting recommendations you might have -- including your own![;)]

I actually like the idea awhile back regarding a cd containing the "song of the week" for the past year. You can start this one with where you left off last time. People can make contributions and a little souvenir like that would be a nice little gift. It also gives some of us a chance to listen to a few tracks here and there that we may have never heard of before. I don't know, what do you guys think?

I just wanted to bump up this thread and ask Mike how he wants us to donate. Do we just go onto paypal and put in his email address as Rich suggested?
Then a note that the monies go to the NWOP fund? I would like to do this ASAP before I spend all my dough.
Thanks....

You can use my email address if you wish to donate via PayPal. They don't seem to want a donation logo on my site because of the music downloads.

Also, any other web hosting suggestions would be welcome. I'd like to make a switch in the next few months.
