She was one of these singers that I could never get into.Except for one song I liked by her which was "Mandinka" I absolutely couldn't tolerate Nothing Compares 2 U.First of all it really had nothing to it,and it was as slow as molasses.I was never able to understand how it climbed all the way to the number 1 spot here in the states,as the song basically stunk.I put that song right up there with Laurie Anderson's song "Oh! Superman" as two of the worst New Wave songs of all time,and to me I never considerd "Nothing Compares" as a New Wave song,even in it's best day.I bet that even Prince's version of this song,didn't do the song any justice also.

The day that The Dickies do a cover of this song, I just may up and like it by them,but then again,they tend to take a song that they cover of a song that was really slow,and upbeat it into a more Punk style.Like their cover of the old Moody Blues song "Nights In White Stain" which I absolutely loathed by the Moody Blues,but yet loved by The Dickies.Go figure,but that is The Dickies for ya.

She may have had one or two decent songs, but I just cant remember them.
She was such a hateful bitch and full of her own unfounded sense of self importance that she was an easy person to hate.

Funny thing is, the whole pope-picture ripping thing: she was protesting abuse of children by the Church in Ireland....it took another decade or so for that issue to hit the media here in the US. Turns out, she was right. Just too early.

So, Sinéad O'Connor had a lot af hostility directed towards the Catholic church and struggled with her faith. She lashed out in what some might say a juvenile and reationary manner when she was about 21 or 22 years old. Why is that so contemptable?
