Name That Tune Volume 9

Postby fritzb » Sun Jun 06, 2004 4:37 am

Time for another round of Name That Tune. I suspect some of you are likely to find this one pretty challenging. There are a lot of less mainstream artists represented this time, so it should make for an interesting game. A number of the selections have some lyrics in the samples, which may or may not help. Don't worry there are still some of those "easy ones" in the mix. As always, there are a few truly obscure cuts to challenge the experts. [;)]

Like my previous editions, there are 50 songs clips - for a total of 100 points (1 point for artist, 1 point for title). There are 2 seconds of silence between song clips. Download your response form below and email it to me for tabulation when you're finished (my email address is on the form). Make sure to put your forum screen names on your answers, so I know who you are. I will send the Answer Sheet to everyone who sends me their responses (if you don't hear from me within 24 hours, I probably didn't get your email). Don't post your responses here!

Here's the link for the response form (my email address is on it):

I wanna offer my special thanks to Grayson for providing a whole bunch of great Post-Punk and Alternative material to include in this and future games. My own collection is kinda thin in this area. Thanks again! [8D]

Also thanks to everybody who has sent me stumper songs to include. I can only use a few in each game, so yours may not appear for a game or two. [:)]

The game will end on Friday June 18 at 4PM EDT

Good Luck! [:)]

Wow, cool Fritz and thanks for another NTT. This one seemed like a breeze until I hit the second half and then I was like oh man, what the heck. Anyways, I think I scored a 70(plus or minus a point or two). Thanks again Fritz, I know these NTT contests ta

Hi fritzb!

Just sent in my response. Thanks for all the effort on this! This is cool!

Hey, I was looking at past NTT's, and I saw a song on #5 that I've been looking for for years and years and years....

Well, I'm certainly doing better on this one than any of your others, I have 37 of them. The others don't ring a bell, but I'll give it another try in a couple of days before I send in my answers.

Me too, I think I've got 31 (or 62 points). My best so far. I discovered some info on the band for song #50, and it looks like this is the "least nasty" of their songs.

What the heck, I'm in the game too!
I've sent my best answers, and at best may have scored a 42 (yuck).

We're only a few days into the game and I have already received 9 entries with an average score of 52 points.

This edition seems to be producing the widest score differential yet. So far, we have a couple of astonishingly high scores and quite a few

I just sent in my answers -- I think I scored 53 points.

#6 & 24 I should know.
#33 I need to know.

Nice one, Fritz...I feel like a flaming moron. I hit 70 though, and a handful were blind stabs.

No one could name the title of 45? Weird!

S., that would have been #44 on your sheet. You skipped #34 on your response sheet, so all your responses after that were off by one. [:p]

Hey fritzb, just curious...do you ever repeat artists within the same NTT? [:I]

There is only one song by any artist in each game. I generally try to avoid closely related artists in the same game too (ie. The Cars/Ric Ocasek). I can't guarantee that one though - I may not be aware of the connection between them. [;)]

Kudos out

Okay, request time. I would like tracks #20, 24, 36, 37 & especially #45. Is #45 the same artist as the one who did a lot of freestyle in the 80's?
