I thought that he was pretty good as a solo artist after Split Enz broke up.My favorite albums by him solo being the first two. Escapade,and The Big Canoe.I just got a copy of Big Canoe on CD just recently,and it was very tough to find on CD.My favorite solo songs of his being the following.

I always have felt that Tim's solo work has always been very underated when comparing it to his Split Enz material.Same with Crowded House too.But then again I love Split Enz,but never really could get into Crowded House all that much.I prefer Tim's solo work over Crowded House for sure.The problem with Crowded House I thought was,that their material was just way too watered down,and slow,and not upbeat enough.I especially couldn't get into their biggest hit "Don't Dream It's Over" for two reasons.

For one it was way too commercial and top 40,and the other being too slow.I tend to not get into New Wave ballads all that much.Then again depending on the song itself.Does anyone else in here like and appreciate Tim's solo work? I also liked The Swingers Phil Judd's band after he left Split Enz,alot more than I did Crowded House also.They too were a very underated band as well.

And to me Counting The Beat was a lost classic New Wave song.

Nice to see you metioned Phil Judd. His part inthe Slpit Enz story is much underated. Outside True Colours I have always thought that the first album Mental Notes was Enz's best. Phil played a big part in that album and the overall idea and concept that was Split Enz.[;)]

Loved Split Enz, but was totally bored with Crowded House.

Tim Finn and Split Enz were massive here in Canada. I Got You, One Step Ahead and Six Months in A Leaky Boat were all top 40 hits here. Even Finn's solo hit 'Through the Years' reached our top 40

My 3-year old was watching a Wiggles video yesterday and who comes on but Tim Finn doing 'six months in a leaky boat', with all the characters dancing around the stage....pretty funny.

Not so funny is that the guy who played Paul the Cook on the Wiggles videos was Paul Hester, drummer of Crowded House, who did himself in not too long ago. I get a lump in my throat everytime I see my kid watching him goofing around with the Wiggles, totally oblivious....

I recently purchased The Finn Bros. 2004 release "Everyone is Here." Here's my mini-review. The songwriting is sensitive, covering topics of love, loss and aging without not becoming totally depressing. "Homesick" is a killer track. I've always loved the way Tim and Neil's voices blend together; they sound fanastic here. One of the best CDs I've heard in quite some time. I hope they plan on going back to the studio in the near future to create more work like this.

I saw <u>Neil</u> Finn at a free concert in Boston back in '98 sponsored by a radio station. He was touring in support of [i]Try Whistling This[/i]. But he also played a few Split Enz and Crowded House tunes. It was a great show.
