42 here...Class of 1981
The drinking age was still 18..
I bought a cool muscle car for $1200[:0]...
Saw the rise of New Wave music...MTV...Dance clubs....etc.
It was a fun era to be a part of.
Thanks to this site (& now Satellite radio) a piece of that era lives on!

Don't worry... Your time will come... I'm an 42 years old European guy who woke up with the Boomtown Rats, Talking Heads, the Clash, the Fuzztones, Joy Division, Magazine, Dead Kennedy's... in 1978. However, Iggy Pop's Passenger and Lust for life had taken control over my body some years before...

I guess you grew up with the amazing Pixies, so enjoy being younger!

California uber alles or vaporize the Eifel tower? It's only a non existing gap of 25+ years... Great!

I'm a 42 year old Seattle dude, and collecting more new wave than ever! I guess the further that the era of new wave gets in my rearview mirror, the better it sounds compared to all the other sounds that have since graced the airwaves.

I feel really lucky to have come of age when most of this great stuff was actually played on the radio! Joe Jackson, The Clash, New Order, Thompson Twins, early REM, Pretenders, Romeo Void, The Alarm, Big Country, Simple Minds, extended remixes, crazy hairdos, goofy teen movies, the original MTV, great concerts (anybody see Echo and the Bunnymen, New Order or Tears For Fears during their peak? Wow!). Everything was new and fresh, and most of it still sounds as good today.

I'm 18, soon to turn 19.... in some days. But that doesn't stop me from being a nostalgic.... I feel as if I was part of those new wave days in the 80s.

OKay. I was just reading one of my earlier posts from last summer on this forum, saying that I was turning 25. I must have been half asleep while typing it. Or drunk on coffee or something. At the time I was 23, and now I'm 24. GOOD LORD!

I'm 37. None too pleased about it either. I still feel like I did back when all this stuff was new.

Just the other day I put 'Rocket to Russia' in to the CD player. I was overcome by the urge to park behind the bleachers at my old high school and have a few beers and a smoke with my best friend.

Suddenly I realized I haven't smoked in 3 years, spoke to my best friend in 15 and haven't been in high school for 20. Beyond that, the bleachers in question are attached to school in San Diego and I have lived in Chicago for quite some time now.

I had to settle for no cigarettes, coffee instead of beer, driver's seat of my car instead of bleachers and morning traffic instead of my best friend.

At least I still had the Ramones.

Just turned 33, and i still remember everything...new wave was big back then when i was still in the philippines, ...a big plus though - we didn't have a legal drinking age, hehehe
