BIG NEWS FOR PRINCE FANS

Postby bruiser » Wed Jan 18, 2006 1:30 pm

no, not the remasters we want of the 80's catalog, but perhaps a first step.

to coincide with his new release this february, warner bros/rhino is releasing something called "ultimate prince" that is a 2 cd set. now, i know, i know. why bother with another greatest hits?

but the rumor is that it is a collection of 12" single versions, and their extended b-sides, most of which have never been on cd and many unedited.

what this could mean: that leaves extra space on remasters that would normally get the 12" versions... what to put instead? vault material perhaps? unreleased stuff? hmmmm...

curiouser and curiouser.

You do, obviously, since you're reading a Prince thread.

Posters should note that this side of the NWO has traditionally been more level-headed and discretionary than others like NNNW for example. I'm sure Mike wouldn't squelch the conversation with censorship...don't squelch it with rudeness or bullying either. [:(!]

How embarrassingly misplaced.

OK, I overreacted. I just don't think Prince deserves a thread here.

Prince was considered outside of the 80's RnB scene when he first hit (not New Wave but New Funkadelic Wave?) and I saw Prince on his last tour and he pretty much destroyed any band I've ever seen play out live so I say why not mention him here?
I'm skepical of this release though. Most of the b-sides from 79-90 are on the three disc set WB put out a while back.
Here's hoping WB remaster and rerelease that outstanding back catalog.
Not loving that new single though. Lite FM-sounding. Prince don't get all middle aged on us!

You must listen to the albums "Dirty Mind", "Controversy" and "1999" and then you'll see the parallels.

Prince was awesome during the 80's. It just is a fact that since the 80's he has been very dissapointing.
