There is so much to choose from, but if I wanted to pick something that was somewhat known, I would go for Simple Minds' New Gold Dream. Otherwise, it would be Modern Eon's Child's Play - a great, lost new wave song.

I think the real point is: What true music lover could really pick a single song? If someone who couldn't do so simply abstained from posting, this thread wouldn't have many responses.

I don't know that they are "perfect" in the sense that it may be "flaws" in them that make them so meaningful and memorable to me (would that still be perfection? hmmm...)
But I can mention some songs that I never tire of. That I could listen to a few times a day and it wouldn't bother me...

This question had me folding back over my original choices and after further review questioning that initial choice. So to rectify this Shakespearean stagnation i've gone with my favourite song....period.

Thanks, Blir. I like that you can hear the guitars more on the album version, and I think the vocals are a bit better. Also, the cymbals are pushed back. However, the song's slower, and my perfect song is more uptempo. I'm not trashing "Starry Eyes" in any way. I'd still give it an "A".
