All of these bands have entertained me at one point or another. But if you're asking which one do I think least deserves to be called a "great new wave band", then it's probably Duran Duran.

Gotta be the Thompson Twinks. Overplayed, pretentious, whimpy pop.

They were initially interesting but then diluted their sound and the radio ran it into the ground in heavy rotation. I guess I could say the same for Tears For Fears.

Hearing "King For A Day" or "Head Over Heels" gives me memory pain to this day!

They epitomize why some people still stigmatize 80s music as lame.

OK. I don't hate any of these artists. They're all great. But there's something about the ramones that, UH I don't know. They're music is just kind of boring....SORRY! SORRY! SORRY! I really love a couple of their later songs like pet cemetary and poison heart. And I like I wanna be sedated and rockaway beach to some extent. But other than that their music just kind of irritates me.... SORRY! SORRY!

By the way, Joy division were a great band, and might just be the best band ever.

I really don't dislike any of those, but I voted for the Thompson Twins, whom I like the least out of that list. They started out great, but then went Top 40 and got watered down. No Erasure on that list ? 'cuz that's my vote.

The Smiths--Lord they make me puke
Spandau Ballet--Because they are dull.

I went with R.E.M. because I know very little beyond "Losing My Religion". Hell, I wouldn't even say they're New Wave.

Although I admire Bono's work to help end poverty in Africa, I truly despise U2. My sister and I paid $45 a piece for tickets to see them in concert in '85. ($45 was hideously expensive for a concert back then. Around $15 was the norm. Keep in mind neither one of us had that kind of $$$. My sister was still in college and I was only making around $250/wk.)They cancelled the concert, and it took us months to get our $$$ refunded. [:(!]

I totally agree with Jim2, everything U2 recorded after Joshua Tree bites. [xx(]

I guess everybody at the beginning went along with U2, Spandau Ballet, Duran Duran and Tears For Fears...but their music didn't age well and soon sounded commercial...so lots of newwavers parted ways except the diehards![:D]
