Very good topic,I must say.I will contribute it with one of the first new wave songs I heard that was not so commercial and that really got me into the whole new wave thing.

Great post,tomfin. This has always been one of my fave CV albums--and, really, doing house music was not a great stretch for them, considering that their Some Bizarre albums are quite indebted to early hip-hop. CV were apparantly very keen on US dance musics.

The most striking think about the record was indeed Stephen Mallander's skillful singing--which makes it sadly ironic that subsequent CV releases became gradually more instrumental.

Keeping with this, I'll submit another late Cabaret Voltaire gem--"Smooth", off of the _Colours_ EP from, I think, 1992. Another great vocal, and a phat bassline.

Here's a band that has definitely been forgotten, and I'm sure unheard by many:

The Bears released a self-titled album in 1987 consisting of catchy guitar-driven pop. It's one of the few albums I can honestly listen to from beginning to end without ever getting bored. I highly recommend it.

Most noteably, The Bears featured Adrian Belew sharing vocal and guitar duties. Songs from this album got some airtime on a local college radio station while I was in central New York (although I was introduced to them before I left Long Island back then).

This is the second cut from the album, "Fear Is Never Boring." (Props to the person who originally shared this on the Hub, as my copy's on cassette [xx(])

Their second and final album in 1988 was, in my opinion, not too good. I think Belew went on to release Mr. Music Head after that.

during the eighties there were lot of great songs, that I loved after hearing it once. But overall they were the normal top 40 tracks.

One day in 2001, after driving back from a holiday in Switzerland, my girlfriend and I were listening to the German radio. Suddenly a great track was played, that reminded me a lot of the early Depeche Mode, a band of which I own every official release. It turned out to be the German band Camouflage and it turned out that the track "The Great Commandment" was a hit in Germany around 1988.

Well the rest is history. I've got everything of the band now.

since several have been sending more than one track, here's my second one as well.

This Australian band was played on the Dutch radio maybe one or two times. I was able to catch the 7" single, and some years ago even found the CD.
