Thanks dude! I will start out by giving my best holiday memory/fight.
It is very rare that I see any of my wifes family. We don't go over there and they don't come over here. The last time I saw most of them was at a wedding where my brother in law challenged me to a fight. (that is another story for another time)
So it is back when we used to visit, about 11 or 12 years ago. My wife has 3 sisters. We all meet up at the moms in The Bronx. Picture one room with 2 bedrooms and a kitchen and bathroom. It is tiny. But every square inch of space has something in it. The couch is covered in plastic and so are the floors. Thats right, she took the extra sheets from the guy that covered the couch 25 years ago and layed them on the floor.It must have been 100 degrees all year long there. You couldn't breathe. The only thing to do was watch tv if you could hear it over the dog barking, the radiator hissing, and the women cackling. With me so far? Oh and the tv was a regular tv sitting on top of another tv...a giant console tv that she won't get rid of but does not work.
OK.....now on top of this great scene that I described, throw in my brother in law. Picture John Leguizamo only with no job. So he shows up. 2 cell phones on his belt, a laptop in one hand and a briefcase in the other. He comes in mumbling to himself and then sets up all his gear on the table we are supposed to eat on. BTW, my first question to my wife was "I thought he didn't have a job". He doesn't. He begins to talk on both phones, russel through papers (probably blank) and work on his laptop. Don't forget he has no job, the papers are blank and the phones were probably off so he is talking to himself. All of a sudden....he has an emergency and has to go! Bam out the door! Nobody says anything. Picture me looking around the room with confusion on my face. Did anyone see that or am I dreaming? Nobody says a thing. Fast forward about 6 hours. Dinner is finished. I already ate my poison dinner (true but a story for later). Knock knock....who do you think is at the door at 9 oclock at night after vanishing? Yup, its him and he is wasted drunk! And he has chinese food?!!!!!! I said I'm sorry, I thought today was thanksgiving.He takes of his coat, gets stuck in the coat and crashes through the table. Then he starts cring about his chinese food. I stood up, and said thats it check please! Told my wife to get her coat and walked out. Then drove home to Brooklyn with a pain in my gut like someone put broken glass in my food.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I got up at 5:30, made a pie and will now start my white wine sangria. 7:05 am, and I should have a buzz going by 8:00 while taste tasting. Hopefully everyone will stay in bed until I am done stuffing the bird!

The dog got me up at 6, so I figured I'd make a cake with all this extra time. Had I known about Marie's Sangria, I would have jumped in the truck & drove down! I've never been buzzed for Thanksgiving...[;)]

I will add my kids were sick all week and are fine now but they had to sneeze on me. Now I'm sick. I was up at 1:30 this morning. Are holidays the best or what?

Got off from work at midnite, came home made a couple pies. Got a little sleep put the turkey in the oven, got a little more sleep. Now at 10:45 I am in the middle of home made mac n cheese. Trying to wrap it all up at noon in time for the football games. The wife and youngest daughter are at her parents, I'm here with the two boys. Got Live 365 blasting out NW tunes. I'm dancing and singing in the kitchen, my oldest thinks I'm wierd. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

The gathering hasn't even started and the fighting is underway. We are going to my mom's husband's daughter's and my mom is sulking because Mr. Hex and I wouldn't drive 45 minutes out of our way (each way) to pick her and hubby up and drive them there and back. I should add my mom and her husband are both perfectly healthy and have no problem driving so it's not like she has a remotely reasonable excuse for this request.
Oh well--I don't have to cook or clean! [:D]
And tomorrow the orgy starts: LOTR extravaganza IV--Mr. Hex and I sit in our pajamas, gorge on junk and leftovers, and watch all three Lord of the Rings movies in a row.
Finally--I don't want to come across as serious or saccharine or both, but let's be mindful of the many, many things we have for which to be thankful. 2007 has been a tough year for me personally but my list is nonetheless very long . . .
Oh well--I don't have to cook or clean! [:D]

I got up at 4 and then 6 a.m. to check on my brisket. Finally pulled it out of the oven at 10 a.m. -- and it is fabulous, according to my little taste test.
The turkey and dressing are in the oven and the desserts are ready to go. I still have to make the taters, but it's only 10:30 a.m., so I have plenty of time to get around to that.
I'm trying to decide if it's too early to break open some wine.
I'm going to stuff myself, watch the Cowboys lose (hopefully), and then walk with the kids to the park. Fun times.

Hubby and boys voted to celebrate tomorrow as hubby was offered triple time to work today. I'm okay with that BUT the 3 also voted to be untraditional and to go shopping tomorrow for all the food, buy whatever sounds good to each of them, and THEN come home to cook it. I stood there with arms folded and said, "And HOW am I supposed to go shopping, come home and unload, AND cook 4 different meals in one day?" They responded, "Oh, come on! It will be fun!" So I problem solved: THEY are cooking. I have the local chinese food restaurant on speed dial "just in case". LOL Today I am studying for finals, which are coming up in the next 2 weeks. Wheeee.
My parents called from 3000 miles away and whined about how I have ruined the holidays for them by moving away. Nevermind their other child is boycotting them too, as well as the other half of their grandchildren. Somehow, it's all MY fault. Also nevermind that I moved 3000 miles away to get away from these kind of guilt trips. Ugh. They don't seem to comprehend that there would be no family if I stayed near them. They'd be gone and I'd be in prison. They sure don't know how to be thankful! LOL

What a day! I have a leftover buzz from lots of red wine going as I write!
Thankfully, I don't cook much - I just clean up the house and host 17 extra people ... My husband's cousin's husband does all the smoking of the meat and everyone else brings the food. We have a blast - lots of drinking, talking, walking afterwards outside - whatever weather permits!! It was a great day! No fights to post - just some minor disagreements that none of you would be the least bit interested in[:)] Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!

Happy Thanksgiving everybody! I have much to be thankful for this year. It's been a crazy year with many challenges and frustrations, but overall I'm in a better place than I was a year ago. I spent the day at Bfflogrl85's parents' house, enjoying a tremendous dinner with her family. I'm 1000 miles away from my own family, so it's nice to be with a family--especially one that is not as aggravating as my own.
