Wow, Sorry to hear of everyones losses.

The only thing I can see that might ever push me over the edge, and thats a big might, is if something were to happen to my son. Although my religious beliefs are that suicide is wrong.

I can understand why Hutter is upset but Hutter also knows NWO and shouldn't be so shocked or upset at what he's reading.

Oh, I better add this [}:)], you guys tend to be overreactive. Maybe that's why the suicide thought popped into your head in the first place.

Ah.....talk about cultural differences, way of thinking ad geographical boundaries thats causing our misunderstandings.

Who started the Colourfield thread?

To whom it concerns, FUCK YOU. Encouraging suicide, even in a joking matter, is repulsive. My entire family has been traumatized by my brothers suicide. It's not fodder for some lame-ass joke machine.

Point taken hutter.

I sarted this thread because i remember my friends death. My friend committed suicide in 1992 because he cant handle the pressures of his studies and the constant yanking of his parents. He hanged himself inside his dorm. He was forced to study in our top uiversity (UP) and his parents are expecting nothing but high grades. Its common here. Some are even jumping from dorm buildings.

OK so here is a real problem. What if someone asked you to help them do it? You can actually take it as the greatest compliment.
What if someone who lived a full life and was facing just laying in bed, being disrespected, and pooping in a diaper and wanted to go to sleep and not wake up?

Sure ... without a moment's hesitation or subsequent guilt. I wouldn't be bothering to visit the person in the first place unless it was a person I'd be willing to take a bullet for. If you're willing to take a bullet for someone, you should also be willing to give one (so to speak). It's the only honorable thing to do though I doubt many would be able to do it.

We faced that kind of situation. My grandfather suffered Emphysema to the point that he will only live thru the help of a respirator machine. And it will cost us a fortune coz you have no idea how much hospitalization costs here. After consulting our family members, we all decided to pull the plug and we ask a priest to do it.

If only our grandad could speak, he would request us to let him go than let us see him suffer for a long time while we are just watching him helplessly.

Euthanasia is another matter, or is it?

I am *so* going to bring down the overall mood of this thread, but what the heck....

I spent many years battling severe depression, and some of that time was spent battling suicidal thoughts. I attempted suicide about four times and one "comedy" time when I tried to cut my wrists with a pair of scissors I owned, not realizing at the time that that pair of scissors was a specially-made kid-safe one and so all I managed to do was just scrape my wrists up a little. But the other four attempts were all poisoning -- I first swallowed half a bottle of hydrogen peroxide, then I swallowed half a bottle of rubbing alcohol, then I downed about 25 acetominophen tablets with a glass of red wine from my parents' liquor cabinet, then my last attempt was 40 acetominophen tablets with two glasses of red wine. My last attempt was also by far my most desperate and serious one, as I was really, really hoping to kill myself, and I sobbed when I woke up the next day because it had failed again (though I was violently ill that day). I've since recovered and haven't had a suicidal thought in roughly 4 years and have been without depressive moods for 2 years, but it took me a lot of time and energy and determination to get myself out of those dark moods, and I know I still need professional help to deal with some residual issues I carry around with me, but at least I am so much better than I used to be and I have so much more confidence in myself today than I have ever had in my entire life.

I admit all this because I am proud of who I've managed to become and the strides I've been able to make in terms of my personal self-esteem and the whole getting rid of the dark demons that previously drove me to think of myself as the lowest of the low and to make me believe that life was not worth living. I like myself now, and I take great pride in proclaiming that.

Wow Deer! Glad you made it through all that!

Well, from the year of psychology I studied in college and from what I've read, depression is a deep well of darkness that unless experienced, can never be understood.

The good thing is that there is treatment and I know that it was said somewhere in this thread that more needs to be done for BETTER treatment.

So, all of the "quit talking about it and do it" bullshit should be looked at as humor spoken by those that have never been in the "Well."

Being terminally ill and wanting to die is totally different.

Everyone should watch "Ordinary People," great movie, Judd Hirsh, Mary Tyler Moore, Donald Sutherland, Timothy Hutton.
