Good one Marv, now if every state could adopt those ideas I think the tide would be reduced substaintially and be more controllable as well as the vitriol on both sides of the aisle.

Interesting though that this is taking place in McCain country of all things!

I'm going to guess the collapse of the real estate market here in Arizona and the huge job loss is a considerably larger factor in them fleeing, if indeed they actually are. I drove by scores of them this morning, waiting to be picked up to go to work.

I just robbed a bank. I shouldn't be arrested. After all, I simply made an "undocumented withdrawal".

Absolutely. Amnesty for bank robbers. I'm counting on it. And robbing banks is hard work, by the way. Quite risky. Precisely why I prefer the moniker "undocumented worker" while I ply my trade.

Good luck getting Bank Robber listed under the category "Jobs Americans won't do".
You can build all the fences, walls, gun turrets you like and waste billions but the illegals will find a way around them. You need to go after those who are willing to hire them just as much if not more. That's the reality of the problem. I witness it all the time having lived and worked in the OC. It's the biggest piece of hypocritical horseshit there is here. It looks great on the front page and does wonders for your political ties to demonize illegals, but these are the same people who clean their mansions, care for their babies, do their landscaping and paint their yachts. Enforce harsher punishments on the businesses & individuals who hire them. If you hit them in their pocketbooks first, then you'll see a real change.

I agree, the people who hire them should have to pay huge fines.
2. Let me be clear: The act of "demonizing" a group of people has been done over time with many different groups from African Americans and gays to now UNDOCUMENTED people who live in our country. There was also a time that my sexual orientation/behavior was deemed illegal (i.e. read: sodomy) until all backward-ass state laws on sodomy were shot down by the Supreme Court. My point is that Republicans have chosen to make this group of people the new "boogie man,"....
What we term as "illegal" one decade may be seen as "legal" the next. So, to say that something is "illegal" and therefore objectively wrong is absurd because what constitutes legal behavior changes over time. I specifically referred to undocumented immigrants as "illegal" to blow that argument out of the water. Besides, the only people who seem SO upset about the immigration issue IS the Republican party. There always has to be a "boogey man." Last time it was gay marriage issue that brought out all of the hatred-based voters and kept Bush in office for another four years...
I see what you are trying to say.
BUT--the difference here is that past groups that were "demonized", such as gays or African Americans, never did anything wrong. They were demonized due to backward thinking and horrible prejudices.
ILLEGALS, OTOH, ARE doing something wrong. They entered this country illegally. Even those among us who are not necessarily "prejudiced" against immigrants per se can certainly understand the law.

I think what needs to be broken down at this point on the immigration subject is quite simple. There is NO way given our current laws, judicial and penal system this country is going to deport 12 MILLION human beings. Period. The logistics are simply impossible given the current level of resources and the rule of law in this country. To really accomplish this task the people of this country would have to make some choices that are not only unconstitutional, but, in the most extreme cases, inhuman. So a debate about the immegration problem in this country needs to address real solutions, not sloganeering.

I'm fine with that, as we all should be. It's a simple matter of survival.

So motors, I'm curious. Would you be for ensuring all citizens have proper ID and papers and allowing law enforcement to randomly stop and search anyone at anytime to insure those papers are in order?

Since imprisoning this group does nothing to stop the problem, and since recividism would be very high (as has been shown previously). Would you favor execution for repeat offenders?

Not trying to be a smartass here, just trying to get a feel for how far you would go to insure border security.

Illegals should not just be hired and given special benefits, It's that simple. It should have been nipped at the bud years ago. This talk of extreme action sounds kind of scary. Being in a country illegally should not be tolerated by any country and that can also be said of OUR presence in Iraq and then you have the nerve to call them animals? They want their own country back too.
