I think my feeling here is one of sadness. Discovering and sharing music should be a positive and rewarding experience. To say that once you have been given something you don't owe that person anything may the most miserable, lonely thing I have ever read. I'm not talking about money here at all. I am talking about a sense of gratitude, respect, generosity of spirit. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of how much my parents gave me, without expectation. Or the sacrifices our servicemen have made over the years to give me and my family a good life. It is by being grateful, by channeling that good feeling into serving others, helping them, supporting their goals, that we find true happiness.

That's pretty heavy stuff, so let me put it back into perspective. I'm contacting my cousins with a view to trying to get the Seeing Red tracks onto iTunes or something like that. They are the ones who deserve some financial benefit here. And if the only perfect condition single that is left is locked away by someone who does not have gratitude and appreciation and a willingness to support others, then that is the tragedy here.

Excellent move fifty. Erucsbo reminds me of the stiff who used to beg for videos here, gladly accept everyone's generosity, then try to sell them back to us...greed above all. If, as this guy says in his eBay auction " THIS IS WITHOUT A DOUBT ONE OF THE MOST INCREDIBLE MINIMAL SYNTH RECORDS IN EXISTANCE!" (nice spelling Steve) your cousins stand to benefit greatly by adding them to iTunes.

Anyone with such an appreciation for obscenely rare records should without a doubt have the means to transfer the recordings to digital format.

My guess is he does. He sent me mp3s of a Pure Form single that he wanted $999.00 for. He just didn't want to upgrade the available mp3s out of greed...it might lessen the saleability of the record he's auctioning off.

Good thing all those people who've paid upwards of $5,000.00 for a first press of God Save The Queen by The Sex Pistols didn't think that way, or it would be worth $1.00.

I do not have a USB turntable, and the record is Mint.
If anyone wants to see pictures I will send them pictures. Fiftypercent has seen pictures, and can vouch for the records condition. I was selling the Pure Form record for a friend, and they sent me the mp3 to email to people.

Now that it is gone (even though I'm sure it will be back when it has some other big-ticket item to hock -- oh, wait... never mind; it's already back... you can see how "done" with the forum it is), can anyone enlighten me as to what set it off? I read the whole thread, saw 18 posts of people being very nice and courteous to each other... and then on the 19th post, it pops in and promptly destroys all of that. Did fiftypercent remove a post that I missed? Or was it just upset that fiftypercent ignored its email? Gee, I can't imagine why anyone would ignore an email from it. I always make it a top priority to respond to all the rude email I get.

Considering it only wanted the record for profit, I have no idea why it thinks any of us should help it obtain anything. Why? So it can come here and gloat that "Ha ha I have the record now and you don't! And I'm going to be making lots of money and you're not!" Here's a tip to it. If you want something in the future, try contacting the actual band members. I'm pretty sure they'd have copies of their own record, since they, you know, made it. Like, what, the band thought the record was so bad, they destroyed all evidence?

Indeed, the fact that it has no problems with misrepresenting merchandise because "nowhere in" its auctions does it state that it gives refunds is a comment that needs no help from eight6. Or anyone, for that matter.

Yes, I did modify and delete a couple of posts. What happened was that a link appeared out of the blue to an auction on eBay. I was a little surprised. Another person made a comment and I jumped on that because I had no idea how someone would be able to obtain two perfect condition singles based on my limited information, so quickly. I did not specifically say there was something wrong with the item being auctioned, but I urged people to be careful considering the list price was $99.99 minimum bid.

I also felt that there are other places to post links to auctions so it seemed like blatant profiteering to me. Once I had more information that proved the item was genuine, I thought it was only proper to withdraw my earlier comments.

In his defence, erucsbo has every right to sell an item he obtained through his own efforts for whatever value a buyer places on it. I have bought and sold many items on eBay over the years, sometimes making a good profit. There is nothing wrong with an entrepreneurial spirit. I'm not sure that this forum or this topic is the appropriate place to discuss other auctions that may have taken place. I want this topic to be about celebrating the music of Seeing Red and discussing the band. But if your first post is to provide a link to an auction and not to add anything new to the discussion, you should expect some heat from other NWO members. That's why Marie3 is on point with one thing - if an item is sold at auction only because of the NWO and the passion of its members, why shouldn't the owner of the forum (MikeP) feel like he has facilitated this sale? Aren't finder's fees valid when it comes to music?

To me, the mp3/usb/ripping issue is not really relevant. This person is not under any obligation to me or the forum to do that. In fact, I understand that for some collectors, playing the record even once is a no-no because of the needle wear.

But, what I would like to see is some accommodation down the line. I'm trying to find more copies of this record, and like I said I hope the ex-band members have one or the master tape so they can get a good digital product to sell. My fear is that these guys were probably in their late teens and recorded one cheap session, so I'm not optimistic that they would have archived this properly. More information from erucsbo would help me to think about where to look. And, if it turned out he had the best copy left in existence, I would like to think he would be willing to work with me to help the band out. And that is really all there is to discuss.

Hey, I thought you were leaving? Nice psychoanalysis of me at the minimal wave site. How much do I owe you? You really are good for a laugh...you should hang around. Do the right thing for a change, and give those who want it a good copy of the song. Keep me out of the loop...I can live without a song.

I've shared tons here incl. Dark White and Iron Curtain (before the CD) so let's see what you're made of. If a lowlife whiner like me can muster up those charitable acts, surely you can part with a couple of files, being the self made superhero you are.

I found this thread to be rather interesting because I have seen erucsbo passing records off as being "new wave" when they were not even remotely close to the genre. Another thing I would like to add is just because you post the mp3 for share does not decrease the value of the record itself. It just shows how money hungry erucsbo can be. I am always very appreciative of everything posted for share here and I always do my best to share the wealth too, so to speak. In regard to what eight6 said, I doubt the poor lad has any balls to play with [xx(]

Funny, I don't have a USB turnable and somehow I managed to digitize 'White Lines' from the b-side of a MINT copy of 'Goodbye Horses' by Q Lazzarus. It's kinda rare BTW.

FYI: You don't need a USB turntable to digitize a record.
