Ick. If only I could saw off Long Island and send it floating away like Bugs Bunny did to Florida..."South America, take her away!"

What? Get rid of Long Island? Kenneth Cole, De La Soul, Tony Randall, Jerry Seinfeld, Natalie Porttman, Alec Baldwin, Billy Joel and many other celebrities are from here. Not to mention those that moved here to call it home. J-Lo, Marc Anthony, LL Cool J, Boomer, many others. Or have vacation homes here. Francis Ford Coppola, Steven Spielberg, Puff Daddy, lots of others. Neil Tennant, Mike Meyers, Matt Damon, Demi Moore, Bruce Willis, are among the many celebs that pass through. Come on, the Hamptons alone.....Plus lots of operating farms still, wineries, Westbury Gardens, Planting Fields...
Between 1900 and 1930 such luminaries as H. P. Belmont, Ring Lardner, Vincent Astor, Sinclair Lewis, Oscar Hammerstein, Florenz Ziegfeld, William Randolph Hearst, F.W. Woolworth, Walter P. Chrysler, Russell Sage, J.P. Morgan, Marshall Field, Louis Comfort Tiffany, Charles Lindbergh, Thomas Edison, Mae West, Theodore Roosevelt, and Albert Einstein all had homes on Long Island. Not only was Gold Coast life featured prominently in the popular press, but the various artists who lived there also immortalized it. The most famous was F. Scott Fitzgerald in The Great Gatsby, although Long Island estates also appeared in works by Edith Wharton, Theodore Dreiser, and George Kaufman.
And who could deny some of the country's most desired real estate. Newsweek recently listed the top 100 schools in the country. At least 30 of them were on L.I. I never thought I'd ever say this, being a city boy, but I love being on the Island. Glad to live here. [:D][8D][:)]
